Reference > A to Z of Neighbours: Letter M

The A to Z of Neighbours is intended to act as an encyclopaedia of everything to do with the show. These are the entries beginning with the letter M. If you feel that we're missing anything, please let us know, either by contacting us or in the relevant thread on the Message Board.

Mangel: Nell Mangel was a local gossip and terror who was well known in the neighbourhood, before moving into number 32 with her husband, Len. Her son, Joe, took over the house a couple of years later, joined by his son, Toby. Joe married Kerry Bishop and adopted her daughter, Sky. Sky Mangel returned to Erinsborough in 2003 to live with her grandfather, Harold.

Marshall: Dr. Beverly Marshall became a Robinson when she married Jim, but returned to her maiden name following their divorce.

Martin: Julie Robinson met Philip Martin in 1985, when he became her boss at Pacific Bank. The same year they moved away with his two children, Debbie and Michael, following the death of Philip's first wife, Loretta. They married and had a daughter of their own, Hannah, before moving back to Erinsborough in 1992.

McClain: Paul McClain was fostered by Madge and Harold Bishop in 1997 and left Erinsborough in 2001 to be a professional Aussie Rules footballer.

McLachlan : Niece and nephew to Dorothy Burke, Ryan and Tiffany "Lochy" McLachlan were regulars in Ramsay Street. Another McLachlan, Dorothy's father, Clarrie, also made appearances.

Mechanics: Many of the neighbours have been mechanics over the years, including Charlene Robinson, Rob Lewis and more recently Drew Kirk, Stuart Parker & currently Stephanie Hoyland who works at Carpenter's Mechanics, which is owned by Lou Carpenter, Libby Kennedy & Ben Kirk.

Melbourne: Erinsborough is a fictional suburb of this Australian city.

Millennium: The Ramsay Street residents held a street party to celebrate this event, which ended badly when Louise Carpenter accidentally set fire to the Scully house and had to be rescued.

Mitchell: Madge Ramsay married Fred Mitchell and together they had two children, Charlene and Henry. The marriage ended badly and Madge reverted to her maiden name in 1987.

Molly Meldrum: The real life record producer made a cameo appearance in 1986 as himself and tried to sign up Charlene as a pop singer.

Motor Mammas: A band formed by the youth of Ramsay Street in 1994, who used, amongst other things, Annalise's poems as inspiration for songs.

Murder Mystery Weekend: In 1994, most of Ramsay Street went away for a murder mystery party, which ended badly when Julie Martin's unconscious body was found in the grounds of the hotel.

Music: Neighbours is a very musical soap opera, with many in-house tracks being used in the show, the legendary tendency for its stars to launch music careers and the often-resurrected storylines involving a Ramsay Street band.
