A four-episode week saw an old face return to whip her relatives into shape…

Angie Rebecchi made a sudden return to Erinsborough this week with one aim – to sort out her son’s love life. It wasn’t long before Toadie realised that there was more than one reason behind her surprise visit. Not only had Big Kev walked out on her and their 33-year marriage, but Stonie had announced that he and his wife had decided not to have children. Angie was pinning all of her hopes for a grandchild on Toadie, who was unimpressed and almost sent her packing, until she told him that she was beginning to feel like a failure as a mother. And it wasn’t just Toadie who was affected by Angie’s whirlwind presence, as the Timmins family also found themselves under attack. When Bree was caught with a spray can by Max, Angie was quick to drag her back to number 26 and blame her no-good parents, who, fortunately for them, were out at the time. When Janelle and Angie did finally come face-to-face, the sisters-in-law were determined to prove that their family was more of a success than the other. Angie soon admitted to Toadie that the Timminses were winning, as they were finally together as a strong family unit, but Angie wasn’t about to be defeated. The wonderful Lesley Baker stepped back into Erinsborough this week and brought with her some of the fun and natural comedy that the show has been missing for the past few months. Hopefully this year, she might finally make Ramsay Street her permanent home once again.

Meanwhile, Angie found her services needed elsewhere as Lou and Harold’s café feud with Paul stepped up a notch. Loyalties were being tested all over Erinsborough, as Dylan finally decided to accept the job of co-manager of Lucinda’s café, while Lyn tried in vain to find herself a job that didn’t involve working for Paul. In the end, with mortgage repayments due and no sign of employment anywhere, she went back to Paul and accepted his offer of a job. But with Angie on side, Lou had a renewed energy in his fight against Robinson and started selling alcohol on the premises, to appeal to the uni students. Harold was horrified and Paul seemed to have found an excuse to have the place closed down, until Lou revealed that he had an events licence, and the university Orientation Week was classed as an event. Paul was forced to admit defeat, and, when Lou found out that Paul had poached the General Store’s butcher, Angie came up with another plan – catching their own cow. Naturally. Izzy, meanwhile, had bigger things to worry about than her feud with Harold. Ned’s infatuation with her was growing bigger by the day and, when she banged her face on a table at the café, he immediately jumped to the conclusion that Paul had been hitting her. Meanwhile, Elle had realised that Ned had met someone else, and that was the reason for him dumping her, but she wrongly assumed that it was Sky, an assumption that Izzy allowed to continue. However, when Elle confronted Sky, she pointed out that nothing Izzy said could ever be believed, and Elle suddenly realised who Ned’s other woman actually was. Elle, however, after confronting her dad’s girlfriend, was left under the deluded impression that Izzy didn’t know about Ned’s infatuation and was completely clueless. Izzy had already realised that she had to get Ned out of town, and managed to convince a regular guest who happened to be a director, to get Ned an audition in a Sydney musical. But Ned, believing that Izzy was in danger from Paul, refused to go alone, and so, on the pretext of spending the weekend looking for a holiday home, Izzy went off with Ned, unsure how exactly she was going to bring the whole nightmare to a conclusion.

As if Izzy’s fake relationship with Ned wasn’t confusing enough, his ex-girlfriend Elle decided to have some fun of her own and seduce his brother, Stuart. After being told by Izzy that she should stop moping around, forget about Ned and have a little fun, Elle headed straight out to the Scarlet Bar, where she found Stu sitting alone. Before long, she’d convinced him that it wasn’t a problem for them to spend some time together, just as mates. Deciding that she needed a little pampering, Paul arranged for Elle to spend an evening in Lassiter’s’ Penthouse Suite and she talked Stu into joining her there for some champagne. However, Elle’s plan of seduction got off to a bad start as Stu was more interested in watching the footy on tv and she was forced to take a solo spa. Later, as Stu still seemed more interested in sport, a desperate Elle dropped her robe in front of him. Finally realising her intentions, Stu pointed out that, aside from the obvious problems of who her ex was, he was still married to Sindi and had no intention of cheating on his wife. A depressed Elle apologised for taking things so far and realised that she’d had a lucky escape by attempting to seduce the most loyal man in Erinsborough.

Susan’s feud with Katya also grew more complex this week, as Karl’s entire career came into question when Katya questioned his ethics. After an appointment with his specialist, Zeke finally spoke to Katya about his fears that Susan was going to die aswell. With Susan only suffering from a cold, Katya assured her younger brother that his guardian wouldn’t conceal a serious illness like both of their parents had done. However, she later used the conversation with Zeke as ammunition against her new stepmother, refusing to break her brother’s confidence and tell her what was said. When Rachel was later caught attempting to graffiti a wall at Lassiter’s, Katya began to question her abilities as a parent, but the two finally agreed to attempt a truce and have dinner together. Unfortunately, the conversation quickly came around to Alex’s illness and the fact that Karl had broken his Hippocratic oath to tell his ex-wife. Things only got worse later in the week, as Susan’s cold got the better of her and she ended up sleeping in, waking to find that Katya had been and taken the kids with her. As Katya spent the morning with Zeke, Rachel was off with Stingray, helping with a film school project. Zeke took the opportunity to open up to his sister again, this time mentioning that Susan hadn’t wanted Katya to be at the house. Katya raced straight back to Ramsay Street and asked Susan if it was true, also bringing up the fact that she’d been in bed and hadn’t even known the whereabouts of Rachel all morning. With Karl once again just happening to have called by, it was finally too much for Katya, who announced that she’d had enough and was going to fight Susan for custody.

Finally this week, Sky had won her spot on UniFM and was staging an on-air striptease to win new subscribers. Fortunately for Dylan and Harold, who were both horrified by her antics, she closed the blinds before things got too risqué. Meanwhile, Stingray had an interview with the dean of the film school at the uni and was given a chance to get a place. All he had to do was produce a story board using only nine photos. As he took his driving test, he had the idea to turn the experience into a story and dragged Rachel along to help out. But it seemed that she was only too keen to help her new friend and it looked like a new Ramsay Street romance might be blossoming…
