Who are your favourite characters and why?
How could you have a favourite with all those to choose from. I would have to say Jackie Woodburne (Susan Kennedy/Kinski/Smith/Kennedy) would be my on going favourite, she plays the part so well and has made for some interesting story lines. Natalie Blair (Carmella Cammeniti) is great also, but I'm not loving her story line at the moment. Jesse Spencer (Billy Kennedy) would still and always be my favourite, I hope to see him return before the Kennedy's more on. He's the reason I watch House! I would also like to mention Caroline Gillmer (Cheryl Stark) as a favourite and it was a sad day indeed, when she died. But as I said, I love them all in some way... I have no real favourites!
What are your favourite storylines and why?
It would have to be the 2005 - 20th Anniversary week when so many past cast met the current cast and made for some great viewing. It gave the fans a chance to reminisce on the show's past and also brought back some of my favourite characters. Bringing back Paul Robinson was a great move too, and made a great intro into 2005. The plane crash was great to watch and showcased the high standard of acting the Neighbours cast have. But more recently, the London trip with Susan and Karl. The Izzy storyline was great and has opened it up for some great viewing lately.
Have you ever visited the sets, or attended any Neighbours Nights?
I have not been to the set when they have been filming, but have done the whole Neighbours tour to the street and have also been in the studio where it's filmed thanks to Rove Live and the Prisoner 25th Anniversary night. I went to my first Neighbours night last Monday and had a great night chatting with the gang. I'm heading down this Monday too, and hope to get to at least two or more a month.
Have you ever met any of the cast members?
I have met a number of the cast over the past 5 years, and have met all the current cast at the moment except Matthew Werkmeister (Zeke Kinski). I have been to the last 5 years of the Logie red carpet which is where I have
met most of them, and got photos and autographs from, but also cast appearances in stores, at the races and last Monday at the Neighbours Night. I would have to say I have met around 50 cast members and some of the guest actors over the years.
What merchandise from the series do you own?
My fan cards would be my most prized possession in my collection which includes cards from 1986-2007 (totalling just over 225 at the moment), I also have a number of books, videos, board games, clippings and photos. The photos of myself with the cast members are a great inclusion and something I look over and remember that cast member or when I got to meet them. I'm still getting more items every week from ebay which is a great place to find some great memorabilia and also meet follow fans and collectors. I have made some good friend from that and we continue to trade items to help each others sets/collections out.
Why do you think the show has lasted so long?
Simply because it is one of the best Aussie dramas to come from this country, the fantastic actors they have playing the roles, one of the best cast and crew who continue to deliver an out standing show and one we can relate too, the interesting and sometimes controversial storylines which keeps it on top of it's game. But I would have to say the most important thing that keeps the show going, is it's loyal fans which I am proud to be one of them. I await to see where the show takes us in the next 20 years....
