Channel Eleven: 13/09/19, Channel 5: 13/09/19

Having read his letter, David cannot imagine his life without Leo in it... Elly informs Finn that he is questioning her relationship with Chloe because he feels threatened on Shaun's behalf... Elly tells Bea that she is not shutting Finn or Shaun out... Elly decides to head off to Sydney for a break and Bea questions if this is because of their fight... Roxy is secretly despondent after Mark informs her that love and commitment are the last things on his mind... Chloe answers Pierce's phone and is told by Ebony that he needs to stop avoiding her calls and take some responsibility... Pierce is surprised to learn that Karl has a love-child... Mark sees Pierce garnering advice from Karl and starts to put two and two together... Mark asks Pierce if Ebony is pregnant...

In the garden at no. 32, Pierce admits that it is wrong to keep Chloe in the dark regarding his news, but he doesn't know how she is going to react. Mark suggests that telling Chloe would be the best course of action, but Pierce is worried that he could risk losing her again, reminding Mark that it was the issue of children that got between her and Elly. As Mark reminds Pierce that leaving things unresolved for too long could make matters worse, Chloe emerges from the house. She is concerned at Mark's hasty departure and asks Pierce what she has just interrupted, becoming increasingly concerned as Pierce admits that there is something he should have told her a long time ago. Before he can reveal this news, he receives a text message, forcing him to leave no. 32 without explanation. Chloe looks confused as Pierce promises to call her tomorrow.

..

At Harold's, David informs Amy that he and Aaron are belatedly celebrating their first wedding anniversary tomorrow by revisiting the winery from their honeymoon, admitting that they both forgot their actual anniversary date. After his sudden departure, David has convinced himself that Leo will be returning to Erinsborough at some point once he's sorted things out. Amy is surprised with David's conviction about this, but he reminds her that Leo didn't mention that he would never return. As David goes to pay the bill, Aaron and Amy agree that David is being unrealistic about the chances of Leo returning as his departure to them seemed rather final. They are both concerned that David is convinced of something that likely won't happen.

Meanwhile, at the Waterhole, Mark is waiting to be served but Roxy, who is on shift, purposely ignores him lest anyone sees them talking together. Sheila comes in and reminds Roxy that she has a customer waiting so Roxy, rather reluctantly, asks Mark what he would like. Confused by her demeanour, Mark asks Roxy why she is acting strangely, and she tells him that she is trying to keep their secret trysts on the down low by not engaging in conversation with him. Mark reminds Roxy that he is a paying customer and that she may be taking things a little bit far, requesting that she get him a pale ale. As Roxy brings Mark his drink, she becomes flirtatious and asks him if he would like her to come over in an hour as her shift finishes soon, however Mark tells her that he has things to do tonight but will text her tomorrow. A peeved Roxy walks away as Chloe comes in and joins Mark at the bar. She starts pestering him for details as to what he and Pierce were talking about earlier, but Mark informs Chloe that it is not his place to divulge details, and she needs to speak to Pierce herself. Unwilling to let this go, Chloe continues to ask Mark for details, questioning whether this is to do with Ebony and the phone call. Mark suggests that Chloe go and speak to Pierce directly as he doesn't want to get involved.

Over at no. 28, Finn is sitting at the table when Karl, having stocked up on hash browns from a discount supermarket, comes in. Also at home is Bea, who is on the phone to Elly in Sydney. She finishes the call and informs Karl that Elly has gone to a support group for single mothers which Liz located for her. Finn mentions that it seems as if Elly is enjoying the break, although he is still surprised with how quickly she left and suggests that the issues with Chloe affected her more than she initially let on. He brings up Shaun and mentions that Elly doesn't need a support group with the father in the picture, but Bea reminds Finn that Shaun isn't here or in Sydney and they should let Shaun and Elly sort things out for themselves. As Finn goes to take a shower, Karl is concerned and informs Bea that she doesn't seem to have told Finn the real reason that Elly left for Sydney - him. Despite Karl's worries Bea tells him that she is merely being selective with the truth, not wanting things to get worse by interfering.

The next day, at the Waterhole, Finn and Bea arrive for breakfast, and spot David sitting at the bar. Whilst Bea heads to a table, Finn asks David how he is coping since Leo's departure. David tells Finn that Leo's hasty exit is not a big issue as he will return to Erinsborough soon enough; he then promises to see Finn at their next session. As David leaves, Finn receives a phone call from Shaun and is unhappy with the news his brother gives him. Ending the call, he heads over to the table where Bea is sitting and reports that Shaun has been trying to call Elly, but she is not answering, his inference being that Bea should call Elly to let her know that Shaun is worried about her. Despite Finn's subtle hints, Bea informs him that she will not be getting involved.

Chloe arrives at Pierce's house to find the door open, and walks in. Sensing that he may be there, she calls out to him, indicating that she needs to talk about last night. However, it is not Pierce who emerges but a teenage boy, wearing nothing but a towel. Taken aback by the surprise intrusion, Chloe asks him who he is and what he is doing in Pierce's house, before being further surprised as the teenage boy introduces himself as Hendrix Greyson, Pierce's son.

Chloe tries to get her head around this revelation by asking Hendrix how old he is, but she is met by nothing but a flippant response, as Hendrix jokingly suggests that they get to know one another over a drink. He cuttingly asks her if she is one of dad's long-term two-week relationships, as Chloe remarks how well-informed he is about Pierce's love life. Hendrix admits that Pierce tries to pretend that he doesn't exist, and then releases a further bombshell by mentioning to Chloe that he also has a younger sister, who is currently in Sydney with their mum. Although slightly derailed by Hendrix's unexpected arrival, Chloe sets her mind back to her earlier problem and tells Hendrix that she needs to find Pierce urgently. He offers to help Chloe look for him once he has put some clothes on.

..

Back at the Waterhole, Finn senses that there is more to why Elly left for Sydney than Bea is letting on, and Bea admits that she and Elly had an argument before she departed. She reluctantly divulges that the reason for the argument was around Elly not taking Finn to her birthing classes, which led to an uncomfortable situation resulting in Elly leaving. Bea also mentions that Chloe and Shaun have not helped with Elly's mindset, and Finn suddenly feels guilty at his attempts to force them to help more with the baby. Despite Bea's attempts to assure Finn that the reason for Elly's decision isn't his fault, he looks troubled.

Chloe and Hendrix locate Pierce sitting at a table at Harold's; he looks concerned to see that they have already met but before he can greet them, Chloe interrupts and demands to know when he was planning on telling her that he had two children. Pierce apologises and tries to placate Chloe by indicating that he wanted to explain the situation to her properly, but Chloe isn't happy with this response, telling him that he had plenty of chances to do this. Things become a bit more heated as Hendrix interjects, asking Pierce if he finds it fun to treat his son as his dirty little secret, becoming further angered as Pierce asks him to wait his turn whilst he talks to Chloe. A hurt Hendrix leaves Chloe and Pierce to chat; Chloe is still upset that Pierce failed to reveal that he had two children, but Pierce tries to defend himself by saying that they are not a big part of his life, his ex-wife Lisa being the one who did most of the work when they were being brought up. He goes on to explain that Lisa didn't want Pierce around and told him that he should go and live his own life, and being of a young age he agreed to this request despite realising now what a mistake it was. Chloe asks if Ebony knew about any of this and Pierce admits that he didn't tell her until just before he proposed. As Chloe jokes that she isn't the only person Pierce hides his secrets from, Pierce tells her that he was ashamed about being an absent father and didn't like people asking questions, indicating that this just made matters worse. He apologises for keeping such a large secret from her and then receives a phone call from Lisa. Chloe remarks that Hendrix seems like a bit of a handful as Pierce goes to answer the phone.

..

Hendrix is at the Waterhole trying to persuade Sheila to serve him a beer, informing her jokingly that he left his ID outside in his Porsche. With Sheila unconvinced by this story, Pierce comes in and informs her that Hendrix is seventeen but lies with the confidence of someone twice his age. Before a surprised Sheila can ask any more questions about this, Pierce and Hendrix go and sit at a table. Pierce tells Hendrix that he had an interesting conversation with his mother, who told him that she had no clue that Hendrix was coming down to Melbourne. He also brings up the subject of Hendrix being thrown out of school for academic fraud, exasperated that this is now the fourth school in five years that he has been expelled from. Hendrix contends that this is not a big deal, and he is done with school anyway, but Pierce isn't convinced and tells him that his mother wants him on the first plane home. Upset that his father is willing to accept this so easily, Hendrix suggests that he tell Lisa that he wants him to stay in Erinsborough. Pierce agrees to this and tells him that he will phone Lisa to see if Hendrix can stay with him for at least a couple of days. He then warns Hendrix to stop messaging Ebony, indicating to him that it was bordering on harassment, and he had to get legal advice. Grudgingly Hendrix agrees to this.

At no. 32, David admonishes Aaron for packing so much for their anniversary getaway, considering that they are only going away for a couple of days. As they continue with their preparations Amy comes in, informing them that she has just gotten off the phone with Jimmy's dad Liam in New York; in a surprise twist Leo has shown up there. David is happy to hear that Leo is spending time with their family and hopes this will allow him to get his head together and then eventually come home. His bubble is quickly burst however as he learns from Amy that Leo has decided not to return home, and frantically starts looking for his phone to try and book a flight to New York, telling Aaron and Amy that he'll talk to Leo and bring him back to Erinsborough. Despite Amy and Aaron's attempts to get him to think things through before rushing into a decision, David ignores them and starts looking for flights.

..

Over at no. 24, Chloe and Mark are talking about Pierce; Mark explains that during his conversation with Pierce last night, he learnt that Hendrix has not only been harassing Ebony on social media but also with prank calls. Chloe is confused as to why Hendrix would do that, but Mark suggests that he was doing it to garner his dad's attention. Following her chat earlier with Pierce, Chloe tells Mark that he and Hendrix have invited her over for a coffee, but she isn't sure that she wants to go. After Mark suggests that avoiding him may not help the situation, Chloe decides that she is going to suck it up and meet them, slightly annoyed at Mark's irritatingly helpful advice. As she goes to leave, there is a knock at the door, and Chloe is surprised to see Roxy standing there. Roxy is leaning seductively against the door, clearly not expecting Chloe to be there, and quickly makes up an excuse that she was looking for a cup of sugar. Completely oblivious to Roxy and Mark's sheepish behaviour, Chloe asks Roxy if she is baking but is told that she is just making some sugar syrup for her morning mojito! Unaware of what is going on between Roxy and Mark, Chloe jokes that a girl can't be drinking rum at this hour and Roxy agrees. An embarrassed looking Mark gives her the sugar and both Roxy and Chloe leave. He looks panicked at the close call.

At the Waterhole, Chloe has arrived and is having coffee with Pierce and Hendrix, who begins grilling her about her career. She tells Hendrix that she is a PA to the general manager at the hotel, but this doesn't satisfy him, and he asks Chloe how long she and Pierce have been together. Pierce admonishes Hendrix for the probing questions and Chloe begins to feel awkward, deciding that ordering some pastries will help the situation. As she goes to do so Pierce pleads with Hendrix to stop making Chloe feel uncomfortable; he understands that Hendrix is mad at him for being an absent father, but he tells him that his behaviour isn't hurting anyone other than himself. Despite trying to wash away the criticism, Hendrix looks hurt at his father's comment as Chloe returns with the pastries. He receives a phone call and walks off, leaving Pierce to apologise to Chloe for his son's behaviour, assuring her that his issues are with him, not her. This doesn't do much to placate Chloe and she once again reminds Pierce that trying to hide such a big secret from her has only made matters worse. Pierce agrees and admits that this is not how he wanted things to play out, rhetorically asking Chloe if he could have handled things any worse. Chloe's silence answers his question as they continue with their coffee.

..

At no. 32, Aaron and Amy are still attempting to make David see reason as he is continuing to try and book his flight to New York. In exasperation, Aaron eventually takes the phone from him, telling David that they need to give Leo some space to work things out for himself. Despite Aaron's attempts at persuasion David insists that he must do something; he feels guilty and upset that he didn't allow Leo to talk to him and instead brushed him aside, wishing that he could turn back the clock and have him around once again. Realising that emotions are getting the better of David, Amy steps in and assures him that no-one could have changed Leo's mind and that she misses him too. David apologises for acting like the only one who cares, as Aaron suggests that they go and visit Leo at Christmas instead. Although still upset with his brother's actions, David thinks that this is a good idea as Aaron tries to comfort him.

Over at no. 28, a despondent Finn admits to Karl that Bea told him the real reason for Elly's departure. To try and cheer him up Karl tells Finn that there were several factors involved in Elly leaving, but Finn is still sure that his attempts to cajole her into giving Shaun a chance were behind her decision to leave. He understands why Elly would want to put some distance between the two of them but feels that she hasn't given any opportunity for Shaun to prove himself to her, particularly as he is the father of her child. Karl suggests that Finn should leave the decision making to Elly, informing him that she will make the best decision she can for herself and her child, and that he needs to be patient.

..

With Pierce called away on business, Hendrix is hanging out on the patio at his house as Chloe turns up. Sensing Chloe's disappointment at Pierce not being home, Hendrix offers to pass on a message, but Chloe isn't sure and tells Hendrix that she will text him herself. As she turns to leave, Hendrix offends Chloe by asking her how much younger she is than Pierce, and then admits that his dad is infatuated with her and therefore they should probably try and get along. Hendrix indicates that Pierce's wealth is a factor in Chloe's relationship with him, but she quickly corrects him on this, stating that she is not a gold-digger. Feeling uncomfortable in Hendrix's company, she once again turns to leave, not before Hendrix puts a hand on her shoulder. He admits that he likes messing with people but suggests that she and him could be cool, further disconcerting Chloe by telling her that he will see her soon. Chloe looks at him with concern before leaving, as Hendrix sits down on the patio and allows himself a mischievous smile.
