Magic Moments > 2019 > Kirsha's Departure Episode 8240

Written by Jo Kasch, Directed by Guy Strachan, Produced by Natalie Lynch

Channel Eleven: 22/11/19, Channel 5: 22/11/19

Kirsha applies to a high achievers' school with Toadie's assistance, aware of Shane and Dipi's resistance to the idea... Shane suggests to Dipi that they let Kirsha leave for Sydney... Despite her initial reticence and with Shane's counsel, Dipi informs Kirsha that they've decided she can attend the new school... Ned is introduced by an acquaintance to a bare-knuckle fighting ring... Hendrix informs Roxy that Chloe is in a different class to Pierce... Roxy realises that Hendrix has a crush on Chloe... Pierce asks Sheila to put Roxy on notice as they need to make cutbacks in personnel... Upset with Pierce's decision to let her go, Roxy promises to help Hendrix interfere with Chloe and Pierce's love life...

An unhappy Roxy is at the Waterhole making a scene whilst clearing away the plates from Pierce, Chloe and Hendrix's meal, still unhappy with Pierce's decision to put her on notice. Aware that Sheila has spoken to Roxy, Pierce tries to placate her by explaining that the proposed staff cuts may not happen, and then indicates that she may want to adjust her attitude in front of other customers. Roxy puts on a false smile and sarcastically tells Pierce that she must get their plates back to the kitchen as the rats need to lick them clean. As she walks off Hendrix jokes that Pierce isn't very good at keeping his staff on side, but Pierce contends that staff cuts are the downside to running a business. Chloe changes the subject by talking about the upcoming wedding, explaining to Hendrix that she may need his help in choosing a wedding outfit for Pierce as she needs to spend her time finding a dress. Surprised by the request, Hendrix asks her if she has got the right person, but Chloe tells him that he has a great eye for detail and amazing taste and is therefore the best person for the job. Despite the request and Pierce's attempts at being enthusiastic to the idea, Hendrix declines to help. Pierce looks slightly saddened with the rebuttal.

..

To celebrate Kirsha's last night at home, the Rebecchi family are having a takeaway dinner at no. 30, although Dipi is still looking displeased with her youngest daughter leaving and changes the subject to Yashvi's first day at work tomorrow. Yashvi admits that she is feeling nervous; Dipi is unsurprised and mentions that with the ongoing lawsuit anything could happen at Lassiters, leaving Toadie looking uncomfortable. As the evening winds down, Toadie takes Nell and Hugo to bed, whilst Kirsha is about to start with her packing; Dipi reminds her that they must do a big shop when they get to Sydney, although Kirsha doesn't look particularly keen. Dipi heads to the kitchen as Shane tries to assure her that she and Kirsha will have weeks to spend together in Sydney before they say their final goodbyes, and she'll feel better once Kirsha is settled in. Meanwhile in the living room, having noticed her sister looking worried earlier, Yashvi asks Kirsha if she is okay. Despite Kirsha's assurances that she is fine, Yashvi asks her if she is worried about mum, aware that she is still struggling to deal with her imminent departure. Kirsha admits that she has something on her mind and asks Yashvi if she can talk to her about it.

At the Waterhole, Hendrix is trying to convince Roxy to serve him alcohol, but she is adamant he will have nothing more than a pink lemonade. She is curious as to why Hendrix is still at the pub as Chloe and Pierce went home, but Hendrix is annoyed and indicates that Roxy hasn't made much progress in helping him break them up, other than annoying Pierce over the staff cutbacks. In her defence Roxy reminds Hendrix that Pierce is intent on firing her, but Hendrix suggests that if she can help him with some useful advice regarding Chloe, then he could convince Pierce to change his mind. Realising that this is a good opportunity to save her job, Roxy asks Hendrix how much progress he has made with Chloe. He mentions that Chloe suggested he go tuxedo shopping with Pierce, but he declined the offer, so Roxy offers her first piece of advice, telling Hendrix that he needs to stop acting like a brat and follow her instructions.

..

As Hendrix listens intently, Yashvi and Bea are also at the Waterhole, sitting in the beer garden. Yashvi's worries over her first day at work as Chloe's assistant have not dissipated; she is particularly concerned with seeing Ned every day, but Bea suggests that being around him in a professional capacity might help to repair the cracks in their relationship. Aware that Bea has her own worries about Ned, Yashvi asks her if he might be in a gang again, but Bea is unsure. She mentions that she has seen him hanging around with a dubious character called Kane who is potentially recruiting for something illicit, although she admits that Ned is too much of a closed book to garner any further information.

The next day at no. 30, Kirsha is saying her goodbyes, starting with Clancy the dog, telling him not to follow her to Sydney. The rest of the family are having breakfast; Toadie offers to make Kirsha something to eat but she insists that she is not very hungry. Yashvi emerges, dressed up for her first day at work, much to the admiration of her family, with Toadie commenting that she has nailed the corporate look. Despite a subtle dig from Kirsha about what a slob Yashvi really is, she is happy to see that her older sister has gotten her a going away present - some earplugs to protect her from Nana's snoring. She tells Kirsha that Sydney is only an hour away so if anyone gives her a difficult time at her new school, she will take the first flight over. The sisters share an emotional hug as Kirsha wishes Yashvi good luck for her first day at work, although Yashvi suggests that now might be the best time to tell Dipi what's on her mind. Kirsha looks nervous at the thought of this as Dipi comes in carrying some bags.

..

Later in the day, Yashvi is beginning her first shift at Lassiters working in the foyer when Ned arrives; he looks slightly dishevelled and Yashvi notices some severe bruising on his hand, asking him what happened. He claims that he injured himself working out at The Shed but that it's merely superficial; Yashvi however looks concerned and bluntly tells Ned that he looks terrible and needs to smarten himself up before Chloe sees him. Ned agrees and walks off to sort himself out, whilst Yashvi rushes out of the hotel after spotting David and Aaron. She asks them if they knew about Ned's accident at the gym, but Aaron is unaware of such an incident and promises to investigate it, thanking Yashvi for letting him know. As Yashvi goes back to work, Aaron looks concerned as he glances over at David.

Meanwhile, at no. 24, Chloe is working from home as Pierce asks her if she wants to get some lunch together. She tells him that she is too busy answering emails about the lawsuit, reminding Pierce that he should also be busy shopping for a tuxedo. To lighten his mood, Chloe suggests that Pierce shouldn't take Hendrix's rejection to heart, but he admits that he is sick of him being so negative. At that moment Hendrix comes in, his mood having changed after his conversation with Roxy earlier. He tells them that he's taken on board what Chloe said about his sharp taste in fashion and has therefore come up with some ideas for her wedding dress, revealing a Pinterest board that he's put together with locally available options. He hands Chloe his tablet to show her and she is taken aback by the choices that Hendrix has come up with, admitting that they are gorgeous. Stunned by his sudden change of heart, Pierce tells Hendrix that this is very thoughtful. Hendrix looks pleased with his efforts, particularly at how excited Chloe is with his ideas.

..

At Harold's, David and Aaron arrive for their morning coffee; Aaron is finishing a call with one of his staff members at the gym, who confirms that nobody saw Ned injuring himself yesterday, but they did see Finn training with him. As luck would have it Finn is in the cafe with Elly and Bea, so Aaron takes this opportunity to speak to him about Ned. Finn confirms that he was training with Ned yesterday but that he didn't have an accident whilst with him, which leaves Aaron puzzled as to why Ned gave this explanation to Yashvi. This leads Elly and Bea to confirm their own worries about Ned, suggesting that he may be caught up in something untoward as his behaviour has been strange since Scarlett stabbed him. They note that they have seen him chatting with Kane and this injury could be linked to it. After thanking Finn, Bea and Elly for their help, Aaron pulls David to one side and explains that there have been rumours of Kane running an illegal fighting racket, which David substantiates with information that there has been an influx of people into the hospital who have been beaten up but have invented dubious cover stories. Concern is etched on David and Aaron's faces as David asks whether Ned could be involved in something such as this.

Back at no. 30, Toadie and Shane are preparing to say goodbye to Kirsha and Dipi, but before they can do so Kirsha finally reveals what is on her mind. She shocks Dipi by confirming that she wants to go to Sydney alone, insisting that this is a new chapter for her, and she needs to become more independent without relying on her family's help. Dipi and Shane both agree that this is not a good idea as it's not safe, but Kirsha contends that she is legally old enough to fly without an adult and that if there is an issue with the plane, she can call over a flight attendant for help. She also suggests that Elly can drive her over to the airport so that there are no tearful goodbyes as she's boarding the plane. With her parents still looking unsure at this decision of Kirsha's, Shane tells her that he and Dipi will need to talk about it first before deciding.

..

Chloe and Hendrix are still at no. 24 poring over the wedding plans he has prepared, although Chloe is worried that she should be focusing more of her time on Lassiters. She is offered some reassurance from Hendrix who reminds her that she will only get married once. They are soon interrupted by Roxy, who has arrived under the pretext of picking up some paperwork but looks interested to see how Hendrix is getting on with his plans to get Chloe on side. Chloe jokes that she has been caught up with her 'personal stylist' and then shows Roxy the work that Hendrix has put in for her wedding dress. With her insider knowledge about Hendrix's plans, Roxy tries to feign surprise, and then mentions to Chloe how lucky she is to have Hendrix around. With their plans in motion Hendrix informs Chloe that he will speak to a boutique about arranging a fitting for her, although they should send her measurements in advance to save time. Chloe agrees and then goes into one of the other rooms to find the papers for Roxy, allowing Roxy to tell Hendrix that she thought she would pop over to see if his plans to charm Chloe were working. Hendrix is grateful for the help and slyly jokes that Sheila is lucky to have Roxy on board.

At the hotel, with Chloe offsite for the day, Yashvi asks Ned for some advice on how to get started in her new role, beginning with how to use the checking-in system. Unfortunately for Yashvi, Ned is not in the mood to help her, claiming that he doesn't have time to show her the systems right now and asking her to give him some space, struggling to cope with being in such close proximity. Yashvi is unhappy with Ned's unwillingness to help and bluntly cuts to the chase, asking him why he has told everyone he's fine, suggesting that Scarlett has done more damage to him then he is letting on. In response Ned contends that he wasn't the only one that Scarlett played, indicating that it didn't take much for Yashvi to think that he was cheating on her. Realising that he cannot be working with Yashvi for a minute longer, Ned decides to leave, informing Yashvi that this situation is ridiculous and he's going home. As he walks out, Aaron, who has been listening to the conversation from afar, looks concerned.

..

Kirsha continues her goodbyes at no. 30, sharing hugs with Toadie, Nell and Hugo. After having a chat about Kirsha's decision to go to Sydney alone, Shane and Dipi return to the house; Dipi is still insistent that she won't allow Kirsha to leave without her, and although Shane agrees in principle, he does indicate that the tighter they try to hold on to Kirsha, the more damage they may do. Although Dipi is still adamant that this won't affect her now, Shane suggests Kirsha may feel resentment in the future if they don't allow her to make this step on her own, asking Dipi if she is prepared to take the risk. Shane's words seem to have an effect on Dipi and she looks thoughtful as she watches Kirsha.

At no. 24, Hendrix has managed to secure an appointment for Chloe at the wedding dress boutique, although he reminds her that they need the measurements from her as soon as possible. As she doesn't have the ability to take all the measurements herself, Chloe asks Hendrix if he can give her a hand, and he looks a bit flustered as he starts measuring Chloe from her neck to the base of her spine. Touching her skin seems to set something off in Hendrix and he loses focus as Chloe asks him to read out the measurements. He finally comes to his senses and starts reeling off the numbers, although his mind is elsewhere.

..

Although unhappy with the situation, Dipi has reluctantly agreed to Kirsha's request to travel to Sydney on her own and is with her on Ramsay Street as she prepares to depart. Elly has arrived to take her to the airport as requested, and as Shane puts the bags into the car, an emotional Dipi hugs Kirsha. Explaining her reasoning for wanting to travel by herself, Kirsha says that if Dipi took her, she would be crying all the time which would make things worse. An emotional Dipi denies that this would be the case as Kirsha promises that she will be video calling them constantly, before thanking her parents for allowing her to take this opportunity and being such great role models. They share hugs as Kirsha gets into the car with Elly; Shane asks Kirsha to call them as soon as she lands whilst Dipi, overcome with emotion, manages to say how much she loves her. The car slowly drives away out of Ramsay Street with Kirsha smiling as she looks out the back window, leaving Shane to comfort a distraught Dipi. Despite the emotion Dipi is resolute and angrily informs Shane that he and Toadie pushed her into a decision she didn't want to make, telling them both that she needs to go for a walk despite Shane's attempts to get her to come inside.

At the hotel, Bea and Finn have arrived to see how Yashvi is getting on. She admits to them that she hasn't had a very exciting day, but she is more worried about Ned after his walk-out earlier. As they chat, Chloe arrives, explaining that she has a last-minute reservation booked in and needs to brief Ned about it. Yashvi explains to Chloe that Ned had to go home early as he felt unwell, leaving Chloe to find someone else to talk to about the booking. She promises to be in tomorrow to help Yashvi and leaves. Considering her own reservations about Ned's recent behaviour, Bea answers her own question about whether Ned is feigning illness.

..

Bea's concerns are realised as Ned is back at the illegal fighting ring at 237 Torrance Road, where he is facing off against his latest opponent, Judd. As he does battle a concerned Aaron watches on from the crowd.

Outside the Waterhole, Chloe is singing Hendrix's praises to Pierce, explaining how helpful he has been with the wedding dress and how he managed to secure her an appointment with an exclusive boutique. As she mentions what a charmer Hendrix is Roxy brings Pierce and Chloe a bottle of wine on ice that they didn't order, indicating that she thought it would help them with their paperwork. Pierce sees through this guise and asks Roxy if she is trying to get on his good side, and she admits that she has been working hard polishing the glasses and reorganising the bar to help Sheila, slyly telling Pierce that this is what you do when you are part of one 'big happy Lassiters family'. This diligent work ethic seems to have impressed Chloe and Pierce as Roxy carries on clearing tables. Hendrix then arrives and joins Chloe and Pierce at their table, which Pierce is grateful for as he wanted to ask his son something important. Wondering whether this is about the tuxedo, Hendrix is slightly taken aback as Pierce asks him if he would be his best man at the wedding. Unsure of what to say in response, Hendrix sees Roxy giving him the thumbs up in the background and agrees to Pierce's request, telling his father that he would love to. There are smiles all around at this, although Hendrix looks slightly concerned as to where this leaves his own plans with Chloe.

..

The fight is in full swing at 237 Torrance Road as Ned's opponent Judd punches him square in the face, leaving Aaron looking worried at the brutal nature of the contest. Although Judd seems to have the edge in the early stages, Ned manages to free himself from a headlock and they start trading furious punches. The fight escalates as Ned begins to gain the upper hand, reigning punches at Judd until his opponent is lying prone on the floor. With Judd stricken and the crowd cheering, Ned continues to deliver punch after punch on the prone Judd, who is no longer moving. Seeing how vulnerable Judd is against the brutal nature of Ned's punches, Aaron rushes over and grabs hold of him, preventing Ned from inflicting further injury onto his opponent.
