Written by Libby Butler, Directed by Iain Pirret, Produced by Natalie Lynch

10 Peach: 15/07/20, Channel 5: 05/08/21

Emmett is struggling with the work set by Mr Muggleton and takes out his anger by kicking a bin... David arrives at school to find Emmett with his older brother Brent... David informs Emmett that he has been suspended by the vice principal... Emmett reveals to David and Aaron that Brent plans to buy an apartment for them to live in... David and Aaron ask Brent if he is ready to live in an apartment... Karl runs into Jane in Perth and is surprised to hear about her break-up with Des... Jane informs Terese about the break-up, indicating that she must tell Paul soon... Terese decides that she'll tell Paul but promptly lies to him about Des and Jane, indicating that they are doing well... Paul looks on Jane's Facebook profile and sees that she has spent time with her daughter Nicolette... Terese decides to message Nicolette, informing her that her mum needs her support...

In the Lassiters office, Terese is continuing to look at NicoletteÕs Facebook page on her computer when she is interrupted by Harlow, who is seeking some information on the hotel's air conditioning unit for her sustainability project. Harlow is curious as to the Facebook profile Terese is looking at and asks her who she is stalking, but Terese says it is nothing and that she should keep it from Paul if she wants the air conditioning data. In jest Harlow tells Terese that not only is she stalking someone, but she has now resorted to blackmail. She enquires as to who Nicolette is, but Terese tersely replies that she is just a 'friend of a friend'.

Meanwhile, at no. 32, Emmett and Brent are on the patio together as David joins them, informing the brothers that they will be having dinner soon, but Brent is welcome to stay if he wants to. With pizza being on the menu Brent is happy to stay; however, once David goes back inside, he tells his brother that they will not be staying for dinner but instead will sneak out to visit the city. Emmett doesn't seem particularly keen on the idea, concerned that David will be angry, but Brent suggests that he can text him when they are out. Slightly reassured by this, Emmett agrees to sneaking out and the boys make a hasty exit around the side of the house.

Back at Lassiters, Chloe runs into Aaron in the courtyard, who is lamenting the troubles of having two teenagers to deal with at dinnertime. He invites Chloe and Pierce over to no. 32 to have dinner with them, mentioning the possibility of wine, but Chloe declines, revealing to Aaron that she is unable to drink alcohol as she is pregnant. A surprised Aaron guesses that it wasn't planned, and Chloe agrees with this, however she warns Aaron not to tell their mum or Tyler until she knows more about the pregnancy. This worries Aaron and he asks Chloe if she is going to keep the baby; Chloe admits that she isn't sure yet until they get genetic testing performed in ten weeks to see if the HD markers are high or not. Chloe is hoping for some consoling words from Aaron, but he is unable to add much other than stating that the situation could still be complicated even if the HD markers are low. She doesn't look entirely reassured as he tells her that he is here if she needs anything, agreeing that taking things one day at a time is the most logical step. Although grateful for these words, Chloe still looks worried.

..

Inside the hotel, Terese is at the reception desk when a woman comes in; Terese recognises her from the Facebook profile as Jane's daughter Nicolette. It's revealed by Nicolette that she is in town for a conference, but as the afternoon session wasn't particularly exciting, she decided instead to visit Lassiters in person, intrigued by Terese's message. She asks Terese where her mother is, but Terese tells her that she is still in Perth, apologising for Nicolette's assumption that her mother was in Erinsborough. Despite Terese raising concerns about Jane's mental state after her break up with Des, Nicolette doesn't look particularly worried, feeling in her mind that the writing was on the wall with their relationship. Taken aback by Nicolette's lack of concern, Terese suggests that they head upstairs to talk in her office. On their way to the lift Nicolette spots Helen Daniels' portrait of Mrs Mangel on the wall and mentions it to Terese, still looking unenthused with her mother's predicament.

Aaron has returned to no. 32, but as he joins David in the kitchen, it becomes apparent that Emmett and Brent are neither in the house or outside. As David goes to call Emmett, Kyle enters no. 32 and informs the boys that he saw Emmett getting on to a bus with an older kid. David then receives a text from Emmett letting him know that he has gone to the city with Brent and will be back later. Feeling annoyed at Emmett absconding without letting them know, Aaron suggests that Brent must have egged his younger brother on. He thinks that they should call Leila to tell her, but David reminds him that they have already called her once today. He suggests that they should give the boys some time and that if they are not back by Brent's curfew, then they should reassess the situation.

..

Back at Lassiters, Terese informs Nicolette about how devastated Jane is regarding her break-up with Des, however Nicolette shows little sympathy for her mother's plight, certain that the marriage was too rushed in the first place. Curious as to why Terese contacted her, Nicolette asks if Jane prompted her to do so, but Terese admits that she did it herself as she was worried about her friend. She tells Nicolette that her mother is hurting and needs some support, thinking that the best approach would be for her daughter to be there for her. Nicolette asks Terese if her mother mentioned the reason for the break-up, but Terese only has limited information, stating that things just fell apart. They are interrupted as a message comes through on Terese's phone; she tells Nicolette that she has to go but suggests that they could reconvene tomorrow morning. Nicolette agrees to this.

After their trip to the city, Emmett and Brent arrive back at no. 32, with Emmett apologising for skipping on dinner. An unimpressed Aaron tells him that his behaviour is unacceptable, but Brent quickly takes the blame for sneaking out. Aaron sarcastically states that this was obviously Brent's idea, before criticising the brothers for slipping out without even letting him or David where they were going. Exasperated with their behaviour, he firstly tells Emmett to go to bed before informing Brent that he will take him back to the care home. This doesn't go down well with Brent, who tells Aaron that despite the threat of breaking his curfew he will sleep at a friend's house tonight. Sensing that something else is going on, Aaron asks Brent why he can't take him home. Brent reveals that he doesn't want to go back to the care home, and this leaves Aaron in a quandary. He decides that the best course of action will be for Brent to spend the night at no. 32 and for him to drive him home in the morning. This appeases Brent and he nods before leaving the room.

..

The next day at Lassiters, Chloe is in the office talking to Pierce, worried about her conversation with Aaron and whether he thinks she is an awful person for even thinking about going through with the pregnancy. Pierce tries to reassure her that Aaron is aware of how complicated the situation is and is not being judgemental, indicating that he is just acting like a concerned brother. Despite his attempts at brightening her mood, Chloe admits that she would like to have one person who is happy for her, feeling as if everyone is more focused on the negatives rather than the positives. Realising that Chloe needs some more reassurance, Pierce informs her that none of this is her fault and that they should simply wait until the Huntington's test is performed in a few weeks to see where they stand. He indicates that aside from their 11am progress meeting, she should try and take it easy today.

At Harold's, Terese and Nicolette are having breakfast, as Terese suggests to Nicolette that she should fly to Perth to support Jane. This doesn't go down well with Nicolette, who is certain that she is the last person who can help, primarily because Jane will not want to talk to her about the break-up. Although Terese assumed that Jane and Nicolette were close due to the pictures on her Facebook profile, Nicolette reveals that she and her mother haven't spoken in years and are 'not exactly the Gilmore Girls'. This leads Nicolette to delve into the past and talk about coming out as gay to her mum a few years ago, feeling that this was the catalyst for a lot of their issues. Although Jane was accepting of her daughter's sexuality, she didn't want Nicolette to tell her nan as she didn't think she could handle it. This forced Nicolette to live a lie in her own home and she tells Terese that as soon as she turned eighteen, she brought a one-way ticket to Australia, only returning occasionally for visits. Despite the years that have passed, Nicolette admits that Jane choosing her nan over her own needs continues to affect her, although Terese suggests that they may still have unfinished business to deal with and that she is not ready to let her mum go just yet. Nicolette indicates that after receiving the message from Terese, she got slightly excited that her mother was in Erinsborough and felt heartened at the possibility of being able to talk to her about things. She admits that she now feels foolish for visiting under false pretences, with her mother still in Perth.

..

Meanwhile, at no. 32, Brent is annoyed to learn from David and Aaron that Emmett is in his room doing his homework, but it becomes apparent that the boys have used this opportunity to talk to Brent alone before he leaves. They ask Brent about his idea of he and Emmett living together, indicating that there is no realistic way that this will happen, and that Emmett would be removed by the authorities if he attempted it. Brent is angry about David and Aaron dismissing his proposal to have Emmett live with him, indicating that the children's agency is always striving for families to live together. His argument falls flat with David however, who reminds Brent that a safe and stable home is also important, whilst Aaron doesn't think that Brent can look after himself let alone his younger brother. As the boys continue to argue that Emmett is better off living at no. 32 for both stability and having the best possible start in life, Brent refuses to listen anymore and grabs his bag, storming around the side of the house. He feels angry and hurt at his proposal being flatly refused.

Back at Harold's, Terese feels awful for sending the message to Nicolette after hearing about her difficult history with Jane, telling her that she wouldn't have done it if she'd known. She reveals that Paul has known Jane for many years but even he was unaware that things were like this. Nicolette isn't surprised to hear this and tells Terese that she doesn't need to do anything to help Jane, jokily indicating that Jane has as much success with men as she does. She tells Terese that her mum has been through similar situations before and that she should be able to get herself out of it, although she does thank Terese for looking out for her. As Nicolette turns to leave Terese suggests that Jane may be open to making things right with her daughter if she knew that was what she wanted. Nicolette considers this before exiting the cafe.

..

Meanwhile, at Lassiters, Kyle is sitting at a table outside Harold's as Brent walks by, his eyes focused on a wallet that has been left abandoned at a nearby table. As Brent tries to grab the wallet Kyle quickly stops him, before realising that he is Emmett's brother. Before Kyle can talk to him Brent runs off, forcing Kyle to make a phone call to Aaron to let him know what has happened.

Needing a release after her chats with Terese, Nicolette is throwing darts at the Waterhole and very nearly hits a lampshade just as Chloe walks in. Feeling embarrassed at nearly hitting Chloe, Nicolette tells her that her form is much better normally. Chloe is curious and asks Nicolette who she is trying to take her aggression out on, mentioning that she once hit one of her brothers with a dart after he used her nail polish to paint one of his toy cars. Rather than going into detail about her situation, Nicolette simply tells Chloe that it is family stuff and too much to load off to a stranger about. Understanding of the personal nature of Nicolette's dilemma, Chloe suggests that she harness her energy on to the dartboard instead and Nicolette manages to hit a bullseye with her next shot. Nicolette feels slightly better and indicates to Chloe that she doesn't want to physically hurt anyone but simply needed to play some darts in an anonymous location. They make their introductions as Chloe tells a slightly uncomfortable Nicolette that they are no longer strangers and that she will be hanging out at the bar if she wants to join her for a drink. Nicolette smiles as Chloe heads to the bar.

..

Thanks to the heads up from Kyle, Aaron finds a despondent-looking Brent sitting on a bench at the Lassiters Lake. He tells Brent that he is going to take him home, but Brent is still unhappy with the conversation they had earlier about him ruining his brother's life. Aaron apologises and indicates that he didn't mean to humiliate him, telling Brent that his idea of looking after Emmett is nice on paper but not realistic long term. He goes on to tell Brent that he and David want to give Emmett the best chance in life, but Brent isn't convinced and asks Aaron what will happen if Emmett gets in trouble at school again or something else, suggesting that they will be forced to take him to a foster home if his behaviour were to worsen. Despite Aaron assuring Brent that this is not their plan, Brent reminds him that these types of things happen regularly and that he and his brother don't get happy endings, merely being used as projects by people who have too much money and nothing better to do with it. Aaron is stung by Brent's harsh words but once again tries to assure him that he and David are in it for the long haul. The anger that Brent is feeling doesn't dissipate as he vehemently concludes that no matter what anyone says Emmett will be let down eventually, feeling that he is the only person who has his brothers back and the only one who will continue to care for him when others fail.

At the Waterhole, Nicolette has decided to join Chloe for that drink; Chloe asks her what the family issues are that are getting her down. Nicolette reveals that some old wounds have been re-opened by a well-meaning stranger as Chloe agrees that family issues 'suck', admitting that just when you think you've got your life on track past traumas return and turn everything upside down. Nicolette takes the opportunity to properly introduce herself to Chloe, but just as they settle down to chat further Chloe receives a message from Paul asking her why she's not in attendance at a conference call. A guilty Nicolette apologises for distracting Chloe from her meeting but Chloe jokes that there is no apology necessary as she was looking for a distraction from both work and Paul. She tells Nicolette that she hopes to hang out with her again soon but is disappointed as Nicolette reveals that she will be heading back to Canberra tomorrow. Unwilling to get into further trouble at work, Chloe says goodbye to Nicolette before rushing off, leaving Nicolette looking curious as she goes.

..

Having dropped Brent off at the care home, Aaron returns to no. 32 to learn from David that Emmett has barricaded himself in his room. Feeling concerned about Brent's current accommodation arrangements, Aaron expresses his guilt at leaving him there, indicating that it didn't seem the best thing to do. He laments the fact that everyone in Brent's life has let him down, from his parents to his school to his carers, as David agrees that both brothers have been through a lot in their short lives. Aaron becomes passionate about Brent's situation and tells David that he has taken more rejection than most people have in their entire lives, adamant that the world isn't built for people like him. To try and improve Aaron's mood David reminds him that the very things that have affected Brent in his life are the very same things they are trying to protect Emmett from, hence the reason for fostering him. Despite David's attempts at placating Aaron, it becomes clear that Aaron has a bee in his bonnet about fixing things for Brent; he suggests to David that Brent needs as much looking after as Emmett does and feels that they could foster him as well. With worries about their finances, living space and Brent's own mental state, David looks deeply unsure about Aaron's idea.
