Written by Jessica Paine, Directed by Scott Major, Produced by Andrew Thompson

10: 26/08/24, Amazon Freevee: 26/08/24

Holly goes through Heath's bags... Holly almost dies in the grain silo... Heath attempts to blackmail Paul... Paul asks for proof that Holly, Toadie and Melanie are alive and well. Andrew tells Haz and Mack to keep a safe distance from Warrawee... Melanie saves Holly in the silo... Heath goes after Mel and Holly with a gun... Haz tells Mack to call Andrew... Heath starts firing the gun at random... Toadie passes out in the outback and starts hallucinating... Holly pushes Heath into the water where he's attacked and killed by a crocodile... Melanie finds Mackenzie with a gunshot wound to her shoulder...

Melanie starts screaming for help and Haz comes running, closely followed by Holly and then Tess. Tess explains that the police are a few minutes away, while Haz rushes to help his girlfriend. Mel confirms that Mack is still breathing and Haz uses his shirt to stem the bleeding. As she regains consciousness, Haz tells Mack to stay calm as help is on the way.

..

Meanwhile, Toadie is still lying passed out on the train tracks.

Back on Ramsay Street, at no. 22, Andrew is filling in Karl, Susan, Terese and Paul on what's happened. They're all shocked to hear about Mackenzie's shooting and Heath's death, but Terese is worried when Andrew then mentions Tess, Haz, Holly and Melanie, but not Toadie. Andrew confirms that they haven't been able to locate Toadie yet and that Melanie was the last person who saw him, when he went looking for help. Terese starts to worry that he's been shot, but Andrew insists that there's no reason to believe that. The tense conversation is interrupted as Nell and Hugo return from their sleepovers, with Nell noticing everyone's faces and jokingly asking who died. Hugo then asks where Toadie is, as Terese looks to Paul for answers.

..

A police officer finds Toadie lying on the train tracks.

Terese sits Nell and Hugo down and explains that Toadie and Melanie were taken against their will, but they don't have all the details about what happened yet. Nell wants to know why nobody told her sooner, but Paul says that they didn't want to worry her and Hugo until they knew exactly what was going on. Andrew then returns from taking a call, confirming that Toadie has been found, severely dehydrated but otherwise fine, and that Mackenzie is also stable, so they'll all be flown back to Victoria for treatment. As a delighted Terese takes the kids into the kitchen for ice cream, Andrew sits with Karl and Susan and tells them that, although Holly is physically fine, she's been through quite the ordeal.

..

..

As Haz, Mackenzie, Holly, Mel and Toadie prepare to board a plane out of Warrawee, Mel notices Toadie standing alone, staring off into the distance. She joins him and informs him that Tess is still being questioned, so she'll be on the next flight. She asks Toadie if he's ready to go home and he confirms that he is. They all head towards the plane, which then takes off.

Back in Melbourne, later that night at the Waterhole, Wendy, Aaron, Paul, Leo and Krista are talking to Andrew about what's happened. Aaron asks how much trouble Holly is in, but Andrew explains that the Queensland police will see if as self-defence, but this whole thing will have a huge effect on her. Krista adds that it sounds like it's going to affect all of them. Andrew adds that they've got Tess in custody, so hopefully they'll have more answers soon. Paul says that they'll be making sure they get back every dollar she embezzled, at which point Wendy asks if Tess was in on the ransom demand. Andrew believes that Heath was working alone on that, and Leo asks his dad if he was really prepared to put up $5 million for Holly, Mel and Toadie's safe return. Paul says that it never came to that, and seems reluctant to accept any praise that he was even willing to do it.

..

At no. 22, Terese comes downstairs, telling Karl and Susan that Nell and Hugo seem OK, but they're insisting on coming to the hospital later. Karl tells her that it was the right call not to tell the kids until they knew what was happening. Terese then admits that, although things weren't great in her marriage, she's realised how much she loves Toadie and how much she wants to fix things between them.

At the penthouse, Leo joins Paul for a drink on the balcony, asking him how things went between him and Terese. Paul says that Terese was very distressed, but they managed to clear the air. Leo then says that Terese must have been grateful that he offered to pay the ransom, at which point Paul goes quiet. Leo realises his father did the same thing earlier when the ransom was mentioned and asks what's going on. Paul explains that Terese was asleep when the ransom text came through and admits that he wondered, just for a brief second, what would happen if he did nothing. He adds that Terese and Toadie's wedding photo then caught his eye and, when Andrew turned up, he told him straight away. Leo is glad that his dad did the right thing in the end, but Paul explains that, earlier that night, he'd been telling Terese about the perspective he'd gained in New York and how he was going to be respectful of her and Toadie - but the moment an opportunity came to get back with her, he considered taking it. He wonders if he'll ever be free of his pull towards Terese.

..

At the hospital, Terese, Nell and Hugo are in the waiting room, when Mack is wheeled in, with Haz by her side. Terese rushes over to speak to Mack, but Haz explains that she's completely out of it. Remi instructs the paramedics on where to take Mack, as Toadie then appears, in a wheelchair with a drip attached. Terese warmly greets him and the kids rush over, but Toadie appears very overwhelmed. Remi again directs the nurse on where to take him - Hugo asks if they can go too, but Remi tells him to just wait a little longer while they check Toadie over.

At the police station, a solemn Karl and Susan are waiting as Mel and Holly are brought in. They all hug, and Karl suggests that they should go to hospital but Mel explains that they were both checked on the plane and are fine. Holly wants to go and see Mack at the hospital, as soon as they've given their statements, and Mel tells Karl and Susan that Holly was absolutely amazing. Holly denies this, but Mel says that she saved her and Toadie from the cottage and, if she hadn't stopped Heath at the river, who knows what he would have done next. Holly reminds Mel that she saved her from the silo too, as a worried Karl says that they'll get Holly all the help she needs. Susan tells Mel that she can stay with them for the night, rather than go back to an empty apartment. Just then, Andrew comes in with Tess - he tells Mel and Holly that they can leave once they've given their statements. Mel wonders why they need to give another statement, having already spoken to the police in Queensland, but Andrew tell her that it's a joint investigation but there's nothing to worry about.

..

Back at the hospital, Remi tells Mack and Haz that the bullet went cleanly through her shoulder and nothing else was hit so she won't need surgery, but she did lose a lot of blood. Remi tells Haz that she's given her some pain meds so she can rest, which Mack says 'sounds delicious', confirming that they've started to kick in. As Remi leaves, Holly arrives and asks Mack if she remembers what they spoke about on the plane. Mack admits that she doesn't, so Holly says again that she's so sorry for not listening to her regarding Heath, and says that she won't be that person anymore and she'll get her act together. Mack nods, but then says that she's going to close her eyes for a little bit.

In another room, Remi is with Toadie, telling him that his blood pressure and heart rate are back to normal but confirms that he'll need to stay in for observation overnight. Terese appears in the doorway, checking with Remi that he's OK as she sits on the bed. Remi says that it's just a superficial cut to his head and there are no signs of concussion. She then leaves, and Terese tells Toadie how worried she was and how she can't believe what he's been through. He says that it's going to take a while for him, and the others involved, to process what they went through, and that Terese probably has questions about why he was with Melanie. Terese insists that all of that can wait, adding that she loves him and trusts him. She kisses him, confused when he doesn't really respond, and tells him that the thought of losing him was unbearable and that, whatever problems they have, they can work through them. She hugs him, as Nell and Hugo turn up to see their dad.

..

At the police station, Tess is talking to Krista - she explains that she dedicated 18 years of her life to Conrad Sinclair, she would drop everything to be there for him, whenever he called. She says that, when he died, she didn't realise that everything would change and that Reece wouldn't see her value, but she just ended up being pushed aside. She claims that nobody was ever meant to get hurt and that it was just a crazy scheme that spiralled out of control. Krista asks why she didn't just leave the country when she had the chance, to which Tess replies that she loved Heath - and she thought he loved her too, but he was only in it for himself. She says that Krista must think she's an idiot, but Krista says that actually this is the most human she's ever seen Tess. Tess tells Krista how sorry she is for the way she treated her - Krista replies that, if she means that, she'll take full responsibility for everything she's done. Tess simply nods.

Back at the hospital the next morning, Haz is sitting with Mack, saying that they've both spent far too much time in hospital lately and they make a pinky promise not to do it again. Toadie then appears in the doorway. Haz stands up to greet him and asks how he's doing - Toadie admits that he's struggling, and Haz says that they're both finding it difficult too. He confirms that Terese is coming to get him soon and thanks them both for everything they did. Mack says that they're sorry that he and Mel got caught up in the whole thing, with Haz adding that the worst is behind them, though Toadie doesn't look convinced.

..

At no. 28, Karl and Susan are surprised to find Holly making everyone pancakes for breakfast, explaining that it's her way of saying sorry for everything. They insist that she didn't have to do this, but she sends them outside to lay the table, telling them she'll bring the food out shortly. As they go, Holly pulls on a tea towel and has a flashback to clinging on for her life in the silo. She starts to suffer a panic attack as she remembers everything that happened to her and Melanie sees her and rushes over. She says that she doesn't want Karl and Susan to see her like this, but Mel insists that they all care about her and asks her what she was thinking about. Holly talks about the silo and Heath chasing them with the gun, and how she thought they were all going to die. She says that she had to push him in the water, but she starts to hyperventilate again as she thinks about watching him die. Mel tries to comfort her but she insists that she's fine - Mel says that neither of them are fine, but that's OK. Holly points out that Mel didn't cause this situation, and that if she'd stayed away from Heath and listened to everyone's doubts, none of this would have happened. Mel tells her that she isn't to blame and that she's just as much a victim as any of them, and she needs support. Karl and Susan walk by in, and Holly tells them that she's ready to talk about what happened.

Tess is led out of the police station in handcuffs, as Paul, Leo and Krista watch her go.

Toadie sits uncomfortably as Terese, Nell and Hugo fuss around him. As the kids leave, Terese sits down with him and asks if he wants to talk about what happened. She insists that he should just feel whatever he needs to feel right now and it's fine if he doesn't want to tell her about it. She suggests that they just have a quiet day and watch a movie, but Toadie suddenly says that he can't do this. Terese asks what he means, and he says that he's been trying to convince himself that everything's OK, but it's not. He then tells her that he can't be with her anymore.
