Magic Moments > 2025 > Byron and Trevor's Departure Episode 9288

Written by Daniel Papas, Directed by Tony Osicka, Produced by Andrew Thompson

10: 04/08/25, Amazon: 04/08/25

Taye thanks Sadie for helping to cheer him up... Andrew and Holly look at each other from across the street... Max is annoyed when Holly angrily turns on Saskia... Holly bumps into Gavin Bowman and screams at him to leave her alone... Holly tells Andrew that Bowman has been following her... Andrew physically threatens Bowman as a happy Holly watches from a distance... Jane realises that Byron hasn't cancelled the cruise he had booked... Aaron points out to Jane that Byron doesn't seem very happy in Erinsborough lately... Jane realises that she's being selfish by forcing Byron to stay...

At no. 24, Jane and Byron are sitting with Sam, Aaron and Nicolette, and they put on sailor's hats as a way of breaking the news that Byron is leaving - and Jane is going with him for the first leg of the cruise. Sam gets up to give Byron a hug, and Nicolette joins in too, whilst Aaron gets on his phone to start planning a farewell barbecue for later that day. Sam then puts on Byron's sailor hat and jokes that she's going with him.

..

At the Waterhole, Sadie tells Taye that Saskia has confessed to tampering with the products at the spa, so she no longer has to do the additional training course. Taye is relieved that there's finally some good news, but then he gets a text from Max, confirming that Byron has changed his mind and is leaving. He asks Sadie how she feels about that and she's a little upset, but says that she no longer has feelings for him so it's fine. She then gets a message and leaves in a hurry, and Taye is shocked to realise that she's on a dating app.

Andrew is sitting by the lake when Holly joins him and says that she saw him threatening Bowman and she's grateful. She asks if he's ok and he admits that he shouldn't have done it, but he just hated the idea of someone hurting her. He takes her hand as he says this, before quickly pulling away and telling Holly that he has to go. As he walks away, Holly is left more confused than ever.

..

At no. 26, Sadie walks into the house, closely followed by Byron, who is telling her about his plans to leave the following day. Sadie admits that she's already heard the news and she was giving him space to tell her when he was ready. She adds that he didn't owe it to her to tell her but she's glad that he did and she's also jealous that he gets to see Mack and Haz. He reminds her that, wherever he ends up, he's only a phone call or a message away, and he then invites her to his farewell barbecue that afternoon. Sadie gratefully accepts the invitation and Byron smiles and says he'll see her there.

At Harolds, Max is telling a distracted Taye about all of the meat he's ordered for the barbecue and suggests that he should cheer up, as Sadie is going to be there. Taye suggests that Sadie might get a better offer, which intrigues Max, so Taye explains how he recognised the ping on Sadie's phone earlier from the Hotski dating app, which he used to use himself. Max is surprised to hear that Taye is no longer using the apps and points out that, if it's only a casual thing with Sadie, then he shouldn't be stressing about her seeing other people and he's sure that she'll still have time for him too. Max leaves, but Taye doesn't look convinced.

..

At the penthouse, Byron arrives to see his goodbyes to Leo and thanks him for being so understanding about him constantly changing his mind about whether to stay or go. Leo reminds Byron that his investment basically saved the vineyard from going under and he'll always be grateful for that. Byron admits to seeing Leo as an inspiration and Leo feels the same, saying that he's impressed with Byron going off to sail the high seas and to find himself. Byron jokes that it doesn't feel particularly cool when he's being joined by a dog and his mother and they share a hug.

In the Lassiters car park, Andrew spots Rhett starting up the engine on his car whilst talking on his phone then beginning to reverse without wearing his safety belt. When he starts to tell Rhett what he's done wrong, Rhett doesn't take it seriously at first until Andrew asks to see his licence.

..

At no. 32, Byron is with Nicolette and Jane, impressed at how quickly they pulled together a party - and that everyone wanted to come and see him off. Nicolette jokes that they're all there to wave off Jane, rather than him, so he goes over to speak to Sam. She says that she needs to call her dad and she asks Byron if he's nervous about leaving. He admits that he is, so she tells him to take it one step at a time. He's touched and he asks her to thank her dad for raising such a wise daughter. Sam hugs him before he leaves her to make her call. Across the garden, Max is checking his phone and sees that his mum and Saskia's flight is about to take off. Holly tries to be sympathetic but Max says that she doesn't need to pretend that she's going to miss them. She looks annoyed and walks off, as Byron comes over, telling Max and Taye that he's informed Vera that he's leaving and she's happy to remain at Eirini, though she passed on everything Max will need to take over doing her free foot rubs. As Max goes to play with Trevor, Byron warns Taye that Sadie is special and he needs to treat her well, because he'll get to hear about it if he doesn't. Taye simply nods in reply.

Outside the Waterhole, Aaron is heading to the party after picking up some extra food and he asks Rhett if he's coming. Aaron is confused when Rhett asks if Andrew's going to be there, before explaining what happened earlier and how he believes that Andrew was overreacting. Aaron thinks that he was just doing his job, mentioning that his brother Mark would have done the same thing - even to his fiancee on their wedding day. Rhett understands, but says that he still doesn't feel like going to the barbecue, so he heads off, leaving Aaron disappointedly holding his meat.

..

At no. 32, Byron finds Sadie alone in the kitchen and she asks him how he's feeling. He tells her that he doesn't really want to leave but he knows it's the best thing for him and he won't regret it. He says again that he's sorry for the way things ended between them, telling Sadie that she's one in a million and some of the highlights of his life have been with her. She admits that, despite everything - and despite that one time when he refused to give up his hairdryer for her - he'll always be important to her. She talks about how he taught her how it felt to be loved and, with nothing left to say, Byron heads back outside, just as Taye comes in. When his phone starts pinging with messages on Hotski, he apologises, but Sadie says that it's nothing to be sorry about. She walks off, leaving Taye feeling awkward.

At the pavilion, Terese finds Andrew nursing a coffee and she asks if he's going to Byron's farewell. He tells her that he has work stuff to do and that he'll say goodbye in the morning, but Terese picks up on his mood and asks if everything's OK. He says that he misses Toadie on days like this and Terese offers to be his sounding board but he insists that he'll be fine. As Terese walks off, Andrew's phone rings and he answers the call from his boss, asking if it's about Bowman.

..

Back at no. 32, Max comes in and finds a broody Taye, realising that he's thinking about Sadie. Taye declares that he really likes her and he wants to be an exclusive couple, which is very unlike him. He says that he never saw himself as one half of a couple, but admits that he finds Sadie so sweet and a bit scary at times and she's the only girl he wants. Max says that it's a bit of a pickle but the easy way out would be to tell Sadie how he feels.

In the back garden, Aaron and Sam tell Byron that they have a gift to present, before handing over a new frisbee to Trevor! Byron is a bit put out, so he goes to say his goodbyes to Isla. She asks him why he's going, so he tells her that it's like when they play backyard explorers, but the treasure he needs to find is very far away. He says that they can still talk and do funny video faces whenever she wants and she replies that she'll miss him and she hopes that he finds sparkly treasure! Meanwhile, Holly finds Max and apologises for the way she spoke so harshly to Saskia - he says that he had the situation covered where his sister was concerned, but he appreciates her trying to defend him and he accepts her apology. He then offers his own apology, admitting that he got very caught up with Saskia's dramas and he never asked Holly how she was feeling.

..

At the barbecue, Nicolette is trying to get a game of cricket started but, as they don't have a bat, they just start throwing the ball around. When Taye ends up throwing it into the pool, Trevor quickly goes in to retrieve it, much to everyone's delight.

Later, inside no. 32, Byron is with Sadie, Holly, Max and Taye. He thanks Holly for always having his back then hands her the keys to his car. Sadie points out that she and Holly will be the only two share house OGs left on the street, as Max pipes up from the sofa, saying that he and Taye are starting to feel left out. Holly tells him to pipe down, and Byron then pulls Holly and Sadie in for a hug, before heading outside to help clean up. He tells the girls that he'll see them when he sees them, before Holly says that she needs to get going too. Sadie suggests that they could head out somewhere, but Holly says that she's working. When Sadie says that she's meeting a guy from Hotski, Taye looks disappointed but tells her to have a good time. Once Holly and Sadie have left, Max tells Taye that he should have said something about his feelings, rather than wishing Sadie a good night, but Taye doesn't think it was the right time. Max, however, is worried that Taye is going to miss his chance completely if he doesn't speak up.

..

At no. 24, Jane arrives home, with Nicolette and Byron, telling them how much she's loved having them both with her over the past couple of years. She talks about how fragile time is and that them both choosing to spend so much time with her has been the greatest gift of her life. Nic says that it's been special for them too and Jane pulls them both in for a hug.

At the Waterhole, Andrew finds Holly working, wanting to give her an update on Bowman. He explains that he didn't get in trouble with his boss for threatening him, but rather found out that Bowman has informed the parole board that he's moving to Cheltenham, so he won't be in the area any more. Holly is relieved and Andrew thinks that Bowman was serious when he said that he intended to keep his distance. Holly is grateful to Andrew for scaring him off, but is disappointed when Andrew points out that she no longer needs him to protect her.

..

At no. 32, Byron looks at a photo of him, Holly, Sadie, Mack and Haz on the fridge and at Haz's coffee machine. He then picks up some pizza boxes from the counter, joking to Trevor about how he could start off a new Tower of Pizza for Taye and Max. He realises that there's no going back and he tells Trevor that they've got a big day ahead of them tomorrow. He then takes a final look around the room and switches off the light.

..

At no. 26, having arrived home in the middle of the night, Sadie is worried when there's a knock at the door. She asks who it is and, when Taye tells her it's him, she lets him in. He explains that he waited up until he saw her come home, and she suggests that his behaviour is a bit weird and this can wait until the morning. Taye then blurts out that he's unhappy with her meeting guys on apps and especially her hooking up with them, and that he doesn't want this casual relationship with her. Sadie says that she thought they were having fun, and Taye confirms that they are but he wants more - he wants a proper relationship or nothing at all...
