Following an accident that left her paralysed down the left side of her body, Bridget Parker began the long recovery process with physiotherapist James Anderson. During her first session at the pool, she made it clear that she was determined to recover quickly, even asking to continue laps of the pool after James had suggested calling it a day. Bridget pressed on, but was later deflated when, as her parents went to bring the car to the main doors, she struggled to put her cardigan on. During another session at the pool with James a few days later, Bridget was making progress, but there was tension when Susan Kinski, the woman who had run Bridget down, arrived for a day out with her family. Though things were strained between Susan and Bridget's mum, Miranda, Didge and Rachel, Susan's stepdaughter, showed the adults how to forgive and forget by chatting away like nothing had happened. Some weeks had passed, and Didge was growing frustrated at the lack of progress during her physio sessions, despite James' assurances that things were going well, and she decided to give up on it.
