A senior doctor at Erinsborough Hospital, Martin Angelo was interviewing Dr Darcy Tyler for a position there. Despite problems in their past, Darcy’s uncle, Dr Karl Kennedy, was busy singing Darcy’s praises to Dr Angelo, unaware that Darcy had been deceiving him once more. As Martin and Karl discussed the merits of having a younger doctor on the team, who the interns would find it easier to relate to, Darcy spotted Penny Watts, a patient with whom he’d been having an affair. Penny was at the hospital to visit a sick friend, but her appearance threw Darcy off and almost cost him the job.
