When psychotic Scarlett Brady managed to make it look like she'd been murdered by Ned Willis, he was unable to deny what had happened as he'd been mysteriously knocked out and suffered memory loss. Convinced that he was responsible, Ned went to the police and confessed to everything, admitting that he couldn't remember any of the details but that there was no other explanation for what had happened. Meanwhile, Terese Willis and Paul Robinson hired lawyer Juliana Ayres, who met with them and explained that, as the police hadn't charged Ned yet, she could still fix things and get a psychiatric evaluation of Ned, which could prove that he wasn't in a fit mental state when he confessed. Ned, however, refused this advice and was then charged with Scarlett's murder, almost destroying his life until Scarlett was finally lured out of hiding with a fake wedding between Ned and his girlfriend Yashvi.

The following year, with David Tanaka, Aaron Brennan and Nicolette Stone struggling to figure out custody of baby Isla, David's father Paul Robinson arranged for lawyers Juliana Ayres and Pia Nash to visit David and Aaron and work out if they had a case. Though Aaron and David were uncomfortable with Juliana and Pia's intention of documenting all of Nicolette's shortcomings, Pia insisted that this was going to be the way to help them to get custody of their daughter. After weeks of tension, the three of them finally realised that it couldn't go on and came to an agreement, recording their pledge to co-parent Isla and to make sure that all three of them were included in any decisions about her upbringing.
