Guest Character Profiles > Molly Baker Gemma-Ashley Kaplan

Molly Baker 2011, 2012
Occupation: Teacher at Erinsborough High School

Delighted to realise that her music class at school was going to involve learning to play the guitar - something she hoped would impress the new kid at school, Noah Parkin - Sophie Ramsay was disappointed when the class began, and teacher Molly Baker told the students that they'd be taking things very slowly. Several weeks later, Sophie's obsession with Noah had worsened and she was determined to play bass guitar and be a part of his band. Against her sister Kate's wishes, Sophie had gone to the city to pick up a bass she'd found online, and Kate, a trainee teacher, went to Molly's music class, only to be told that Sophie hadn't turned up. Later in the year, Molly was on exam supervision duty, when many of the students decided to protest the closure of the radio station, by deliberately missing the exam and staging a sit-in at the station.

The following year, Molly was taking an art class with the year 9 students, including Callum and Rani, telling them to work in pairs and use photography to show where they hoped to be in 10 years' time. The assignment brought Callum and Rani, who'd never really liked each other very much, closer together, in the absence of their other friend, Sophie, who had been expelled and sent to Eden Hills Grammar. Later in the year, Sophie had been reinstated at Erinsborough High, and was surprised when Molly was handing back some group assignments, as Callum and Rani had been working well together, and were keen to stay in a pair for their next assignment, leaving Sophie out in the cold.
