A teacher at Erinsborough High School, Mr Bormann became increasingly frustrated with the rude behaviour of Elly Conway, a new student and the niece of the school’s principal, Susan Kennedy. When Elly answered him back one too many times, he sent her to stand outside the classroom, where Susan spotted her. Elly, however, refused to apologise for her behaviour, insisting that Mr Bormann was the one with the problem, as he was a useless teacher who deserved to be sacked.
