Guest Character Profiles > Stu Branson Darcy Kent

Stu Branson 2013

When Georgia Brooks filled in as the singer for Karl Kennedy's band one evening, there was an overwhelmingly positive response from the crowd. Charlie's bar manager Sheila Canning then made the band an offer of a regular slot, but only if Georgia was kept on as lead singer. Karl was disappointed, but Georgia ultimately turned down the offer and during the band's next gig, Karl found himself being heckled by Stu Branson, who hated the music and suggested that they bring back the 'chick' from the last gig.

A few weeks later, Stu was playing in a poker game, along with Robbo Slade, Graeme Francis and Lucas Fitzgerald. With a pregnant fiancee and growing debts, Lucas, a gambling addict, was happy when he ended up with $4000 after only a few hands, but was persuaded by Robbo and the others to continue playing. Although Lucas's luck then changed, he managed to pull it together and ended up resisting the urge to carry on in the game, and walked away with $6000.

Later in the year, Stu attended another gig at Charlie's bar, this time with Georgia playing solo. Georgia had become quite a local celebrity with her music, and Stu and the rest of the crowd started chanting for her to sing Letting You Know, her most popular song. Georgia agreed to sing it, but the song was difficult for her to perform, as it had been written for her boyfriend Kyle and, the day before, she'd found out that he'd slept with her best friend, Kate. Georgia soon found herself struggling and when Kyle walked into the bar, she couldn't continue and ran from the building.
