When Brennan and Paige were playing totem tennis during a picnic with friends, they were watched from afar by Stu Brown, who eventually approached them and begged them to join in. They were confused by his odd behaviour and told him to get lost, at which point he tried to grab the racquet from Paige's hands. She fought back, and Nate - a mysterious and quiet newcomer to town - suddenly leapt on Stu and wrestled him to the ground. Everyone realised that Nate had gone too far and he quickly left, whilst Stu ran off, and everyone else was left shocked by Nate's violent outburst.
