After Aaron Brennan's ex, Rory Zemiro, returned to his life, he was asked to help out with their old dance troupe, Rough Trade. As Rory had hurt his back, he asked Aaron if he would fill in with an audition for Crystal Carmichael, hopeful that it would leave to a series of gigs for them in pubs in Hobart. Feeling guilty that he'd walked out on Rough Trade years earlier, and that Rory had hurt himself in his gym, Aaron agreed to the plan, despite his boyfriend David's misgivings about Rory and his feelings for Aaron. With the audition about to take place, David confronted Aaron with his doubts and Aaron insisted that he was only doing this to help out Rough Trade and that, once the audition was over, he and Rory would have nothing to do with each other. However, when David then walked in as the audition ended and heard Rory assuring Crystal that Aaron would be rejoining the troupe and would be part of the Hobart tour, he finally snapped and made his feelings clear. Rory then chose that moment to conveniently reveal that he and Aaron had met up in Paris a couple of months earlier, something that Aaron had failed to mention, leading to a huge argument between David and Aaron.
