When Dex Varga-Murphy was poisoned after drinking wine from Leo Tanaka's vineyard, Leo found himself under suspicion and true crime podcast Crimesborough put out episodes suggesting that he had something to hide. After commenting online and making the situation worse for Leo, Holly Hoyland felt terrible and was determined to catch the poisoner, who had since struck again when a woman fell ill after eating at Erin's Bao restaurant in Eden Hills. Holly became convinced that Liv Bellen, the creator of Crimesborough, was connected somehow, and she went to the restaurant, claiming to be her friend Mackenzie Hargreaves from the council, and asked to see the CCTV footage.

Manager Erin Chong was suspicious but did as she was asked. After contacting the council and learning that Mackenzie was a real person, she left Holly to it, but when the council called her, Mackenzie realised what was going on and headed to the restaurant. Holly and Mackenzie then left Erin very confused as they tried to make up stories about why they were both there, before being thrown out. Fortunately, Holly had managed to get the information she needed onto a memory stick and, having seen Liv's best friend, food influencer Tatiana Tang, on the CCTV footage, she did more digging. She then found a picture of Tatiana at a cafe near Leo's vineyard on the day of the first poisoning, and came to the conclusion that Liv and Tatiana had been in cahoots, setting up the whole thing to bring in more listeners to Liv's podcast. Unfortunately, as Holly confronted Liv with her findings, Leo and Mackenzie had realised that Holly had made a mistake and that both Liv and Tatiana were innocent. As Mackenzie raced to stop Holly, she found that she'd already gone too far, spraying Liv in the face with hairspray as they argued.
