Children: Daniel
When Boyd Hoyland noticed a bruise on his friend Daniel's face, Daniel admitted that his father had hit him, but begged Boyd not to say anything. But a worried Boyd ended up blurting it out to his dad, Max, who asked neighbours Susan and Karl Kennedy - a teacher and a doctor - for advice. When Daniel then turned up at the Hoyland house asking if he could stay for a while, Max agreed and took him home to collect some of his stuff, where they were confronted by Daniel's dad, Edward. Though Edward wasn't happy, and admitted that he'd just lost his job and his wife had shot through, he understood why Daniel wanted to get away for a while, and agreed to undergo counselling until he was ready to care for his son properly again.
