After signing a lease to housesit for Ian Burns at his large house for three months, Daphne Lawrence became convinced that there was a prowler, as things were moved, lights were turned back on and she woke up one morning to find a lamp knocked over and toast in the toaster. Daphne ran out of the house and contacted the police from a nearby phone box. However, when Constable Wills and his colleague arrived, they checked the house and found no sign of anyone inside, and only an open window as proof of anything. The constable suggested that Daphne call again if she actually spotted anyone in or around the house, and left, leaving Daphne feeling like she'd imagined the whole thing.
