After hitting her head in an accident, Dr Remi Varga-Murphy suffered amnesia, but only lost memories of her wife, Cara. As she attempted to move forward with her life, she found that she was unable to practice medicine again, until her full memories came back, so she took work waitressing at The 82 tram cafe. Though she wanted to remember her wife and the great marriage that everyone told her they had, she found it all very overwhelming and when Cara admitted that her good friend, Nicolette Stone, had admitted to have feelings for her, Remi told her that, if she wanted to pursue a relationship with Nic, then she was free to do so. Cara insisted that all she wanted was for things to go back to normal with Remi and she had no interest in anyone else. Remi then found herself in a similar situation with Deena, a regular customer at the tram. With Remi completely oblivious to the flirting, her boss Karl Kennedy pointed out that Deena seemed to be interested in more than the coffee, something that was confirmed later that day when Deena returned and gave Remi her number.
