After beginning a secret relationship with school cleaner Clint Hendry, Erinsborough High principal Jane Harris defended him when cleaning supplies started going missing from the school and from Eirini Rising, where he also worked. After the relationship was revealed, Jane was suspended after failing to declare a romantic relationship, not to mention the conflict of interest it created after the recent thefts. As Jane awaited a meeting with the Board of Education to learn her fate, she and daughter Nicolette decided to try and track down the real thief, hoping that proving Clint's innocence would help her case. After finding three businesses selling the same cleaning supplies on the local online marketplace, Jane and Nicolette bought from all three, then set off to see if they could catch the thief. After the first two proved to be legitimate, they arrived at the third, where they saw an elderly lady opening up a garage full of cleaning products. They confronted the woman, Connie Creek, who explained that she rented garage space to a young man who sold the goods and Jane was upset when Clint then arrived to make the sale. He attempted to explain that he'd been desperate for money to pay for his mother's medical care, but Jane was no longer willing to listen to him and called the police.
