After malfunctioning abseiling equipment left him with a shoulder injury, swimmer Josh Willis was taken to hospital, where his father Brad insisted that they contact a specialist sports surgeon to perform the operation. Though the operation was successful, it was unknown whether Josh would ever recover enough to swim competitively, and as he'd just earned a place representing Australia at the 2014 Commonwealth Games, it proved to be a difficult adjustment for the Willis family. Josh later started taking illegal drugs to try to train harder and speed up his recovery, but they only served to mask the pain and do more damage, and Josh was told that he'd never swim competitively again.
