Troublemaking Erinsborough High student Louis Curtain quickly made an enemy of Emmett Donaldson - the foster son of David Tanaka and Aaron Brennan - when he was enrolled at the school. As Emmett tried to make friends, he asked Louis if he'd like to go bowling or swimming over the holidays, only to be knocked back and told that nobody at Erinsborough High liked him. However, when Emmett tried to impress Louis, saying that he was being tutored by counsellor Shaun Watkins and had access to the whole school, Louis was suddenly interested in being his friend. When David later arrived at the school to check on Emmett, Shaun reported that the tutoring was going well, but they then heard some commotion coming from a classroom, walking in to find that the room had been wrecked and Emmett was standing in there alone. Desperate not to lose his only friendship, Emmett refused to tell them that Louis was responsible, simply claiming that he'd seen another kid trashing the room, but didn't recognise him, before trying to take the blame himself. While David and Aaron punished Emmett at home, and Shaun lost his job over the incident, Louis was impressed that Emmett didn't dob him in. He decided that they were going to have some more fun and persuaded Emmett to borrow an expensive drone from neighbour Hendrix Greyson, before using it to spy on girls. When Roxy Willis then saw it spying on her and threw a muffin at it, causing it to crash land, Louis did a runner, leaving Emmett to take the blame once again. When Emmett finally told David and Aaron that Louis was responsible, and they worked out that Louis was also the one who trashed the classroom, they were forced to tell the school, leaving Emmett upset that he'd lost his only friend.

The following year, when Hendrix was forced to return to the school to repeat year 12, Louis couldn't resist taunting him about being a loser, and when Hendrix later found the word 'loser' written on his locker, he lost his temper. A year later, newcomer Zara Selwyn had befriended a group of students, including Louis, after starting at Erinsborough High and they were causing problems by sitting around Harold's Cafe and throwing sugar packets across the room. A couple of weeks later, Louis was amongst a group of students who, encouraged by Sadie and Aubrey, started filming teacher Jane Harris on their phones in the classroom, after a story went around the school that Jane had placed a hidden camera in a teddy bear to spy on her daughter, Nicolette.

• Declan Dennis is the son of Stefan Dennis (Paul Robinson). Declan's sister Darcy also made a brief Neighbours appearance in 2022 as Daisy McCartin
