When teacher Susan Kennedy and student Kirsha Rebecchi went missing during school camp, having got lost in the bush trying to find their way back from a hike, it wasn't long before the alarm was raised and a search began. The police and SES took charge, with Brett Davis organising the SES and other volunteers, including family and friends of Susan and Kirsha. With no sign of them, and light fading, the search was abandoned and, when it resumed the next morning, Brett was worried to learn that Susan's husband, Karl, had gone off searching the bushland on his own and, although he was a doctor with years of experience, he was also suffering with his own health problems. It wasn't long before Susan and Kirsha were found safe and well, and it turned out to be Karl who needed rescuing after he slipped and fell down a ravine.
