When some timber was stolen from one of Joe Scully’s building sites, his daughter Michelle managed to track it down through an internet forum used by skateboarders. Joe and Michelle headed down to some local wasteland, where the boys had used to wood to make a temporary skate ramp. One of the boys, Toby Dawson, explained that the council had refused to make a designated skate area, so they had been forced to make their own. Having skated himself when he was younger, Joe immediately sympathised, and agreed to sponsor them so they could build a proper skate park.
