When Levi Canning entered a polyamorous relationship with Amy Greenwood and Ned Willis, he found himself facing some snide comments from his colleagues in the police force, particularly when Mick Allsop publicly announced that the trio were responsible for an outbreak of pubic lice at Lassiters hotel. With Levi planning to take Amy to the police ball that night, Ned was unsure whether it was a good idea, as there would probably be a lot of nasty comments directed towards them. As Ned and Levi were talking about the issue, one of Levi's colleagues, Robert Dolby, walked by, making a joke about crabs, leading Ned to the decision to buy and ticket and attend the police ball with them.
