When Karl Kennedy heard that his old friend Jimmy Edwards - who'd once played drums in Karl's band, The Right Prescription - had died suddenly from heart problems, he agreed to go to the funeral, accompanied by his wife, Susan. Though Karl and Susan had recently separated, they didn't say anything to Jimmy's grieving widow Valerie, who spoke about how much she and Jimmy had loved spending time with the Kennedys, and had looked up to them and their marriage. Later in the day, Valerie called Karl over to perform, but realised that he hadn't actually been told that he was expected to sing. Karl agreed to do it anyway, struggling with his composure as he started to sing Free As A River, and so Valerie joined in to help him through the performance.
