When Levi Canning entered a polyamorous relationship with Amy Greenwood and Ned Willis, he found himself facing some snide comments from his colleagues in the police force, particularly when Mick Allsop publicly announced that the trio were responsible for an outbreak of pubic lice at Lassiters hotel. As the three of them attended the annual Police Ball at Leo Tanaka's vineyard, Constable Reuben Elliott made it quite clear that he didn't approve of their relationship. When Ned and Levi then got into a bidding war over one of the auction prizes, a holiday for two to Cairns, Reuben commented that it was a shame it wasn't a holiday for three, as they could all fit in the same bed. As the evening went on, Amy grew increasingly uncomfortable with Reuben's wisecracks, she decided that she wanted to leave. Aware of who was responsible for Amy's discomfort, Levi and Ned went over to Reuben, who accused them of 'parading around in public like perverts' and it looked like a fight was about to break out. At this point, Levi and Reuben's sergeant, Andrew Rodwell, stepped in and calmed the situation, firstly telling Reuben to leave, then suggesting that Levi, Amy and Ned should go too.
