Vic Elmahdi met Australian Zeke Kinski when he was studying in London, and she fired off one of the answers as she was walking past him and his friends at a pub trivia night. She'd soon been asked to join the team, and she and Zeke quickly fell in love. With his studies in the UK coming to an end, they realised that they couldn't be together for much longer, and decided to return to Australia and get married, so that Zeke could then get UK citizenship. Soon after Zeke returned home to Erinsborough, however, his old friend Kate Ramsay was shot and killed, and he struggled to find the right time to break the news to his stepparents, Karl and Susan. As he started to sneak around and take mysterious phone calls, Karl then looked at Zeke's laptop and saw the vows Zeke was writing to Vic, mistakenly thinking it was a love letter to another man. Believing that Zeke was about to come out to them, they were surprised when he showed them a photo of Vic, and then explained that she was actually his fiancee, and that the wedding was happening that afternoon. After meeting Vic, Karl and Susan realised that the young couple really were in love, and although the wedding perhaps wasn't happening for the right reasons, there was no point in trying to stop it. And despite a few hiccups with a celebrant who continually got Zeke's name wrong, he and Vic were married, with Karl and Susan treating them to a night at Lassiter's before they had to return to the UK.
