When Amanda Harris died, she put most of her money into a trust for young people who wanted to go into the beauty and fashion industries, putting Sadie Rodwell, the girlfriend of her grandson, Byron, in charge. Having recently trained as a beautician and make-up artist, Sadie was perfect for the role and, after some initial problems with Amanda's family, the Amanda Harris Scholarship was set up. As she prepared to launch the scholarship later that year, she came up with the idea of a make-up competition at Lassiters, with two artists competing on stage to see who got the money. Amanda's daughter, Jane and granddaughter, Nicolette, agreed to be the models and make-up artists Alexandra Francis and Keith Finton arrived to show what they were made of. Unfortunately, the whole thing ended in disaster when Jane and Nicolette were given SATAYE face masks before the show started. The face masks had recently been created by Sadie and her boyfriend, Taye and they were hoping that the business was going to be a huge success but when one of their customers, Vera Punt, turned up at the show with a bright red face and then Jane and Nicolette found their own faces starting to burn, it was quickly discovered that SATAYE was to blame and Taye was sacked from his job as the manager of Lassiters' Piano Bar.
