When American businessmen Dan Ford and Chuck Dwight arrived in Melbourne, they immediately asked chauffeur Shane Ramsay to take them to a bar where they could pick up women. Shane then took them to Smugglers bar, where it was club night, and where his own on-off girlfriend Daphne Lawrence was having a drink with recently-married Terry Robinson. Chuck and Dan soon made a beeline for Daphne and Terry, who explained that they were just looking for a quiet night and some private conversation. The two men backed off, but when they heard Daphne and Terry discussing music, they decided to have another try, mentioning that Chuck could play the guitar. As Terry and Daphne had finally had enough, they got up to leave, just as Shane returned to collect the two Americans - spotting them hassling Daphne, he tried to calm the situation, only to find himself being physically threatened by Dan. Chuck managed to drag his friend away, but Dan warned Shane that he'd make sure he was sacked for this. Fortunately, Shane's employers were impressed with the way he'd calmly dealt with the situation and hadn't fought back, and Terry and Daphne were relieved to learn that they hadn't cost Shane his job.
