After starting at Eden University and befriending Aurora Green and her environmentally-minded friends, Paige Smith was one of the first on the case when they learnt that some trees were going to be chopped down near Lassiter's to put in a new drainage system. New Mayor Sonya Rebecchi, herself a greenie, told Paige, Aurora and Daniel that she'd do her best to help, but later explained that it would cost too much of the taxpayers' money to put the drainage elsewhere. As Sonya was then making her first public address as the new Mayor, she was shocked as Paige and her new friends descended and started chanting and forcing her to defend her decisions in front of the crowd, finally leaving her in tears.

A few weeks later, Aurora and Paige were planting trees near Lassiter's, when Paige's half-sister Imogen arrived, looking for advice on her love life. Imogen had just confessed to her boyfriend Daniel that she had feelings for his housemate Tyler, and it wasn't long before Aurora was butting in, telling Imogen that monogamous relationships were unnatural, and that she shouldn't worry about being in love with two people. Later in the day, Daniel came by to speak to Paige, and Aurora quickly started flirting with him, roping him in to help out, much to Paige's annoyance.
