After splitting up with fiancé Mike, who she'd previously dated as a teenager, then also
having romantic encounters with exes Victor and Shane, Jane Harris
realised that, although she wanted to find love again, she needed to stop revisiting the past. She decided to join some dating apps, eventually getting
chatting to a man named Clint, who seemed to share many of her values and interests, including a love of classic literature. As the app didn't include
photographs, Jane was encouraged by her daughter, Nicolette, to meet Clint face-to-face early on, to avoid getting too invested in a man who she ultimately
didn't feel attracted to. When Clint suggested meeting for a drink, Jane decided to bite the bullet and go for it, but was shocked when the man who arrived
was much younger than her. Clint quickly pointed out that Jane hadn't put an age range on her bio and eventually persuaded her to stay for a drink so that
they could at least get to know each other. Realising that he was genuine, Jane shared a bottle of wine with Clint and they chatted about, amongst other
things, Charles Dickens, but Jane was still uncomfortable with the age difference and made her excuses to leave.
As Clint sent her messages asking if she'd like to see him again, Jane was reluctant. Her mind was soon changed, however, when she spoke to son Byron, who
was about the same age as Clint, and who immediately suggested that it might be a scam, as someone like Clint couldn't possibly be interested in Jane
otherwise. Offended by this, Jane arranged to meet Clint for lunch, battling nerves and a busy day at work at the school to be there. Just as their lunch
was beginning, Byron happened to walk in and accepted when Clint asked him to join them. Jane was then left feeling very awkward as Byron and Clint got
on like a house on fire, with their conversation dominating the date. To make matters even more awkward, as Jane returned to work that afternoon, she was
surprised to learn that Clint was the school's new cleaner. Jane immediately felt that it wasn't going to work and so, the next day, she asked Clint to come and see her, where she explained that they could no
longer see each other. She told him that, as school principal, she couldn't be involved with one of her employees, also asking that he only take evening
shifts when cleaning the school, so that they didn't have to see each other. Though deeply disappointed, Clint understood that she wasn't going to change
her mind but Jane was then shocked to find that he'd taken on work cleaning Eirini Rising, the retirement home that adjoined the school.
Matters only got more complicated when one of the school cleaners called in sick and Clint had to fill in, leaving Jane constantly feeling flustered as she
saw him around the building. As Clint tried to get her to talk to him, she refused, wanting to keep things professional, but he soon noticed her secretly
watching as he went about his work. After some of the Eirini Rising residents got into an argument, with Vera and Gino ogling Clint, and another resident,
Moira, feeling that it was inappropriate, Vera asked Clint what he thought. He told her that he didn't mind, at which point Vera told Moira that, as they
were all consenting adults, then it was nobody else's business. Having heard this, Jane decided to throw caution to the wind and, later that night, headed
to Eirini and found Clint, who told her that one of the apartments was empty, at which point she followed him into the building.
Though Jane and Clint were very happy after sleeping together, and he left her a copy of Lady Chatterly's Lover the next day with a note arranging to meet
again, their tryst soon had consequences for Eirini Rising when several bottles of floor cleaner were stolen. Clint quickly realised that, in his rush to be
with Jane, he'd forgotten to lock the store room. This, coupled with Terese receiving complaints from the Eirini residents about noises coming from the vacant
apartment 304, made Jane and Clint realise that they would need to consider finding somewhere else to meet up. Things only became more awkward when a used
condom was found in apartment 304 and, as Terese, Vera and Moira tried to work out who could be responsible, a guilty Clint was called in to clean up. When
Terese then called on Jane too, in case students were involved, she and Clint realised that they were going to have to be a lot more careful if they wanted
to keep their relationship a secret.
Having worked out that Jane and Clint were struggling to get time alone together, Aaron Brennan - who co-parented Jane's granddaughter, Isla - told Jane
that their house would be empty that afternoon. Unfortunately, the pair were soon interrupted when Terese spotted them arriving and joined them, believing
that they were brainstorming ideas over who had been stealing, both from Eirini and now also from the school. With both Aaron and Terese privately mentioning
to Jane that it could be Clint, she defended him, sure that he would never do something like that. When Terese then mentioned that she'd spotted student
Jasmine Stewart, who had a history of troublemaking, on the grounds one evening, they wondered if they'd found their thief. However, after finding out that
Jasmine had actually been helping resident Elenora, who spoke little English, to win money at gambling, Jane accused her of exploiting the elderly lady.
Jasmine then turned on Jane, calling her a hypocrite and saying that she'd seen her kissing Clint. Terese was horrified as she realised what had been going
on, and who was responsible for the condom left in apartment 304, and decided that she had to fire Clint. This decision caused a huge argument between
Terese and Jane, with Jane bitterly pointing out that Terese had made some terrible decisions of her own, including driving whilst drunk and causing a
gas leak at Eirini.
As she attempted to deal with her suspension and falling out with Terese, Jane was surprised when Byron and Aaron arranged for Clint to come over for dinner,
hoping that it might help to take her mind off things. Whilst she was touched by the gesture, Jane still struggled to enjoy herself, so Clint arranged for
Terese to come over, so that the two women could talk. This succeeded in repairing Jane and Terese's friendship, but Jane was still left waiting for the Board
of Education's decision about her future. With Byron helping her to work out what she should say, Nicolette suggested that finding the real thief, and proving
that Jane was right to support Clint, might also help her case. After looking at the local online marketplace, Nic and Jane found three people who were selling
cleaning supplies like the ones that had been stolen. Using Nic's burner account, they arranged to buy from all three and, after the first two appeared to be
legitimate, they arrived at the third. There, they saw an elderly lady going to her garage, which was full of cleaning products, and confronted her. When she
claimed that she rented her garage space to a young man, they were initially disbelieving, but Clint then turned up to make the sale and realised that he'd
been found out. He tried to explain to Jane that he'd been desperate for money to pay for his mum's medical care, trying to justify his actions by saying that
he'd only told that one lie and that it had been for good reasons. Jane was horrified that she'd almost lost her career because of him and, as he tried to
change her mind by quoting Jane Austen, she told him to shut up and reported him to the police.
Later in the year, Clint was surprised when Jane asked to meet him, hopeful that she might want to give things another try. He was surprised when she quickly
explained that she didn't want to talk about their relationship but rather about his daughter, Addison. He admitted that he knew that he had a daughter and
that she was the result of a one-night stand, but that he had only known about her existence when she was nine years old, and Shannon had contacted him
looking for money for child support. He had given her the money and agreed to stay out of Addison's life, though his mother, Fiona, had attempted to speak
to Addison one day, going up to her in the cafe by her school and telling her who she was. This had only upset Shannon further and so Clint had continued
to stay away, unaware of the problems Shannon had with drugs, both using and dealing. Clint was shocked to learn that, after Shannon and Addison had been
evicted from their home, Shannon had gone off on a bender, believing that her daughter was staying with friends. Addison, however, had been sleeping at the
school and, after being found, had been moved into emergency foster care, before briefly staying with Jane and Nicolette. She was then found sleeping behind
the tram on Power Road and taken in by Krista Tanaka, a recovering addict herself who had turned her life around and wanted to help both Shannon and Addison.
Whilst Shannon wanted to be there for her daughter, her addiction was still controlling her life and she failed to turn up to a meeting with Addison, but did
let Krista know that Clint was her father. With Jane feeling that Clint was genuine in his desire to be a part of Addison's life, Krista agreed to set up a
meeting and Addison met her dad for the first time. They quickly hit it off as Clint explained the real reasons that he hadn't been around, with Shannon
having let her daughter believe that he'd walked out on them when she was a baby. With this first meeting a success, Clint and Addison were both willing to
see each other again.
As Clint prepared to see Addison again, he bumped into Leo, who brought up the subject of Addison eventually living with her father. Clint admitted that he
hadn't considered it as he lived in a two-bedroom apartment with his mum, who had recently agreed to go into a care home. He told Leo that it was certainly
an option when they were both ready and Clint then met with Addison, telling her the truth about his past relationship with Jane and the thefts. Clearly
upset, Addison claimed that she had to get back to school and when she saw Leo outside, he tried to cheer her up by mentioning that Clint wanted her to
live with him. However, when Addison realised that it was Leo who'd brought up the subject, she took it as a sign that he wanted her out of the penthouse,
where she was starting to feel safe for the first time in a while. After Krista managed to calm Addison down, she met again with Clint and Jane the next
day, learning her father's reasons for stealing and that things weren't as bad as she'd initially believed. Once they were alone, Jane then mentioned to
Clint that he could get home to his mum and Lisa, accidentally revealing that she'd been looking at his social media and knew he was seeing someone. He
told her that, although Lisa had been very nice, things hadn't worked out between them and he was now single again.
The following week, after learning that Addison was interested in becoming a chef, Clint arranged for them to attend a pastry making class. After telling
Jane about the plan, he later made sure to bump into her again, this time asking if she'd like to join him and Addison at the class, explaining that it
might be easier for the teenager if it wasn't just him and her. Whilst it was clear to everyone else, Jane denied that she was falling for Clint all over
again, but when the pastry class was cancelled at the last minute, she offered to take Clint and Addison back to her place, where she taught them what she
knew, and Addison started to notice the obvious attraction between Clint and Jane.
Having spent a pleasant afternoon making eclairs with Jane and Addison, Clint dropped his daughter back at the penthouse and they were both surprised to find
in and overhear Krista talking about fostering Addison. Krista later explained to Clint that, after her and Leo's plans to co-parent with Nicolette had fallen
through, she had realised that she didn't want to parent a newborn and had been telling Leo that she'd like to foster an older child like Addison, though not
her specifically. She insisted that she didn't want to stand in the way of Clint building a relationship with his daughter and hoped that Addison would be
able to live with him at some point. Concerned with this development, Clint asked Jane to meet him and Addison for breakfast the next day, though he told
her to meet at 8, having told Addison that they'd be meeting at 9. When Nicolette found this out, she began to suspect that Clint was only using the situation
with Addison to get closer to Jane again. Nic shared this information with her mum, who quickly started to back off, leaving Clint confused. When he asked Nic
about it, she accused him of being underhanded and he told her how he'd wanted some time alone with Jane to sound her out about Leo and Krista and their
fostering plans, leaving Nic feeling bad that she'd misjudged him.
As Addison met Clint's mum, Fiona, officially for the first time, his thoughts turned to asking his daughter to move in with him. With Fiona due to move to
a care home, he told Leo and Krista that he was planning to address the subject with Addison in a few days. Things were also slowly improving between Clint
and Jane, as he helped her come up with a plan to convince Nicolette that she could still become a mum, even if it meant using a sperm donor and having no
co-parents alongside her. Grateful for Clint's help, Nicolette encouraged her mum to get back together with him, if that was what she wanted. Deciding that
she was ready to give things another go, Jane met with Clint that evening, but before she could talk to him, the news came through that the council were
planning to build a new freeway and knock down the houses on Ramsay Street in the process. As Jane tried to come to terms with the news, she asked Clint
if they could try meeting again the next morning, where she told a delighted Clint that she might be interested in giving their relationship another try.
When Clint and Addison then planned a trip to the National Gallery of Victoria, Addison decided to invite Jane along, then failed to turn up, feeling that
her dad and Jane could use some time along together. As they spent time together, Clint admitted to Jane that, with his mum moving out, he wanted to ask
Addison to move in and had hoped to do that during the trip to the gallery. When they then returned to Lassiters, Clint was about to ask Addison to live
with him when Krista arrived with news that Shannon was on her way, having completely a stint in rehab and wanting to see her daughter. Clint was
disappointed when Shannon then asked Addison to come and live with her again and, with the teenager thinking it over, Jane encouraged Clint to ask
her too and make it clear that she would be welcome at his home. However, before he could ask, Addison announced that she'd decided to take a chance
and go and live with Shannon, even though she was sure she'd be let down again.
Aware that Clint was badly missing spending regular time with Addison, Jane asked him to accompany her as her plus one to a commitment ceremony for Paul and
Terese. Clint was happy to go along, but was becoming confused about where he stood with Jane, hoping that she could define their relationship. When she
again described him as her plus one, he decided to leave the event and Jane, realising her mistake, went after him. After failing to see where Clint had
gone, Jane was distracted by a pile of hard rubbish outside the Kennedy house, noticing a vase that she'd thrown away the previous year. As Karl confirmed
that he'd picked it up and given it to Susan, who didn't like it, Jane suddenly realised that the engagement ring that Mike had given her, which she'd lost
over a year ago, was inside. Taking this as a sign, Jane was relieved when Clint appeared, apologising for his earlier behaviour, and she kissed him. As they
finally agreed to give things a proper go, Clint received a call from Addison, who asked to meet him. At the cafe, she explained that, although she was
enjoying being with her mum, the flat was quite crowded and Clint was delighted when she asked if she could also have a bedroom at his place so she could
split her time between her mum and dad.
With everything finally working out for Clint, he accompanied Jane on a trip to Ramsay Hills, a new suburb being built by Shane Ramsay. With the demolition
of Ramsay Street still seemingly going ahead, Clint and Jane were impressed with the proposal for the new houses and he admitted that he could see himself
living there one day.
