Jonah 'Jonesy' Jackson 2025
As a crime ring involving builders the Linwell brothers was uncovered in Erinsborough, journalist Elle Robinson published information that the police had
uncovered - the Linwells had someone on the inside of government helping them, who went by the name of Jonesy. Councillor Amelia Jones immediately came under
suspicion but it was quickly proved that she had nothing to do with it. Although the Linwells were soon arrested, the identity of Jonesy remained a mystery,
until plans began for a new freeway to be built between Erinsborough and West Waratah.
After Karl Kennedy, the council's Seniors' Advisor, bumped into old friend Sam Kratz, he learnt that Sam's construction company had won the tender to
demolish the houses that would be making way for the new road. As the pair went for a drink later to catch up on things, a man named Jonah Jackson arrived.
Jonah was also involved in the freeway plans and was meeting with Sam to discuss things but Karl was surprised when Sam referred to him as Jonesy,
immediately wondering if Jonah was the person they'd been looking for all along.
Karl took this information to former journalist Elle Robinson, who'd initially broken the Jonesy news, and she became intrigued, deciding that it was worth
looking into. She found out that Jonah was a property developer and a bit of a ladies' man and she waited outside his apartment one day, hoping that she might
bump into him and be invited inside. However, she was shocked to spot Helen Brown, the Mayor of Erinsborough, going in and later kissing Jonah outside on the
street. Realising that this could explain Jonesy's link to government, she took the information to Wesley Russo, editor of The Daily Monster, who published
the story the next day. This led to Helen being arrested during a council meeting and the discovery that Jonah had been buying up properties that were on the
path of the new freeway, so that he and Helen could profit from the compulsory purchases. With the corruption involving others in government, the proposed
route of the freeway was cancelled and it was announced that an alternative route was now going to be used - right through the middle of Ramsay Street.
It then emerged that the Linwell brothers had been burgling the houses owned by Jonah, stealing copper amongst other things. He had then been making
insurance claims for the thefts, fully aware that he could just keep the money he got as the houses would soon be acquired by the council and knocked down.
