After finding out that Levi Jansen, who'd been meeting with Amy Williams at the Flametree Retreat, was the owner of several eco restaurants, Shane Rebecchi felt that he'd finally found an opportunity to try and sell the generator he'd invented, which was powered by urine. Shane was delighted when Levi agreed to meet him for a chat, but when Levi went back to his room at Lassiters Hotel, he found his room being invaded by Gary Canning. Gary, a former employee of the hotel, still had his access card and had used it to get into Levi's room, wrongly believing that his daughter, Xanthe, and her boyfriend, Ben, were using it to have sex. As a terrified Levi emerged from the bathroom, Gary realised his mistake and left, with Levi later telling Gary's partner, hotel manager Terese Willis, about what had happened, forcing Gary to confess everything as she reached for the phone to call the police. Levi then promptly checked out and left, leaving Shane believing that he'd done something wrong, furious when he found out that Gary was actually the one to blame. Soon after, it appeared that Shane's luck had changed when he got in touch with Levi and was given another chance, with the businessman agreeing to put the generators in all of his restaurants. However, after learning about the deal, Leo Tanaka encouraged Shane to play hardball and make out like he had other offers on the table, a strategy that backfired when Levi pulled out of the deal, claiming that he didn't like being messed around.
