The leader of a grief support group, Paddy Kaye arranged with principal Susan Kennedy to use a space at the high school, as their usual venue at the Community Centre was unavailable. When Susan's husband Karl suggested that she might think about attending the group, due to her complicated feelings over the death of evil Finn Kelly, she initially resisted, but eventually agreed to go along with Karl and their niece, Bea. When they arrived, Paddy thought that Susan was checking up on his use of the school, before she explained that she and her family were there to attend the group. Unfortunately, they were joined by Sheila Canning, whose son Gary had been murdered by Finn, and who blamed Susan for his death. As Susan spoke about how terrible she felt for bringing Finn into their lives and how she understood why people blamed her for his actions, Sheila listened to the woman she'd formerly considered to be a close friend. As the group ended and people started to leave, Sheila confronted Karl, who apologised, saying that they hadn't realised that this was the group she attended. Sheila then turned on Karl for not saying anything during the meeting and claimed that he also blamed Susan for what had happened but was too scared to admit, something that Karl struggled to deny, just as Susan walked in and overheard.
