In July 2009, Libby Kennedy-Fitzgerald went to visit her brother Billy in Queensland after his partner Anne gave birth to twins. She returned with tales of the hectic household, babies with Billy’s nose, her brother as a father and that new baby smell. All this made Libby think about her own miscarriage and increased her desire for a baby, deciding soon after to try surrogacy. The names and genders of the twins are unknown.
