When mechanic Lucas Fitzgerald got in too deep with professional gambler Johnno Brewer and ended up owing him just under $4000, he was given a few days to pay, before Johnno and his hired help Kotto turned up to get what was owed. When Lucas admitted that he hadn't been able to raise it all, and was still $1000 short, Johnno was about to send him off with Kotto, when Lucas made a last-ditch attempt and called his brother Daniel for help. Dan showed up with a cheque, leaving Lucas with a lot of explaining to do, but getting Johnno and Kotto off his case. A few weeks later, Johnno's revenge on Lucas - tampering with a car outside the garage - had backfired badly when the car crashed, killing teenager Bridget Parker. Her grieving husband Declan tracked Johnno down at the hotel and confronted him, desperate for a confession, but was quickly thrown out of the hotel room by Kotto.
