As the local council waited for an announcement after weeks of rumours, the council's Seniors' Advisor Karl Kennedy arrived to find that a news reporter was in attendance. He quickly introduced himself to Eye On News reporter Veronica Locastro before going inside for the meeting, where it was announced by Mayor Helen Brown that a new freeway was being built between Erinsborough and West Waratah. Karl was relieved that construction wouldn't affect his home on Ramsay Street and that a proposed offramp would actually benefit his business, a tram cafe on Power Road. Sue Parker, however, was shocked to learn that her house would be demolished and, as Helen explained to her that she'd get full market value plus ten percent, Veronica then dragged the mayor off for an interview.
