After Brad Willis, the manager of Dingoes' Den gym, continually disappeared on a personal mission to find his long-lost daughter, the other staff complained and gym owner Ricky turned up to find out what was going on. As Brad insisted that he had everything under control and that he'd be focussing on the gym from now on, Ricky was annoyed to find Brad's son Josh messing around with Paige in the middle of the gym, and warned Brad that standards would have to improve. The final straw came when Ricky found out that Brad had been running his own yoga classes on the side to make some extra money, and Brad was given the sack.

Ricky then caused division in the Willis family by hiring Josh as his new manager, hopeful that the former professional swimmer might bring in some new clients. However, Josh's lack of experience in managing a business quickly became evident and as business failed to improve, his mum Terese decided that Lassiter's, the hotel that she managed, would buy the gym from Ricky. With the thought of his mum as his boss filling him with fear, Josh went to Ricky and persuaded him not to sell, offering to increase membership within a month. Ricky allowed him one more month, but as Josh's personal problems took over, he ended up coward punching Chris Pappas, leaving him seriously ill in hospital. As word got around about what had happened, Ricky met with Josh and told him that he would have to let him go from the gym.
