As the Erinsborough High soccer team played an important game, coach Jack Scully, who had previously played soccer professionally in England, annoyed the team members when he refused to help after one of the players was sent off, sending Boyd Hoyland on instead. When Boyd then tripped a player, who got a penalty and scored a goal which lost Erinsborough the match, team captain Taj Coppin, who was already angry with Jack for stealing his girlfriend Nina Tucker, started a fight. The school’s physical education teacher, and the game’s referee, Mr Moore, broke up the argument before heading off to speak to principal Candace Barkham.
