Though they'd always had an informal parenting agreement over daughter Isla, Aaron Brennan, David Tanaka and Nicolette Stone had never made any legal agreements over their rights. Following David's death, Nicolette started making notes about Aaron's erratic behaviour, causing a huge rift when he found out, as she admitted that she had become concerned that she might one day need to fight him for custody. Nicolette insisted that she wasn't going to go through with a custody battle, but Aaron decided that he wanted to legally adopt Isla to avoid the issue coming up again. Nicolette agreed and, as the process went ahead, they, along with Nic's mother, Jane Harris, met with Iris Naylor from the Family Court. Having reviewed their case, Iris chatted to Aaron, Nic and Jane individually, making sure that they all wanted to go ahead with the adoption and for the right reasons.
