When Tyler Brennan was facing trial for the manslaughter of his long-lost father, Hamish Roche, he decided to change his plea to guilty at the last minute. After dismissing the jury, Judge Ros Challis heard the statement from Tyler's lawyer, Toadie Rebecchi, before handing down her sentence, explaining that although Tyler had pled guilty and shown remorse, he had also taken a life and had attempted to flea the country rather than face up to his crime. As Tyler's horrified friends and family listened on, she declared that he would serve twenty years in prison, with a non-parole period of ten years, and he was led away by Constable Marko North.
