Facing problems in their marriage after she had grown close to fellow uni student Quinn Lao, Wendy and Andrew Rodwell were struggling to communicate and decided that counselling might be the way forward. After a recommendation from neighbour Remi Varga-Murphy, they booked an appointment with Craig Pallares. Wendy explained to him that she had been trying to fit in at uni and had pretended to be younger, childless and single, growing close to Quinn in the process. When she'd then experienced racism at uni, she'd turned to Quinn for advice, leaving Andrew feeling increasingly shut out. Though Wendy had attempted to stop spending time with Quinn, after realising that he had feelings for her, he had continued to trick her into seeing him, leaving Andrew feeling worse. Andrew then explained that the whole thing had changed their marriage, and he pointed out that, although he didn't share Wendy's Asian heritage, he did understand what it was like to be an outsider, as he was adopted, and he could have helped her to navigate her problems if she'd asked.
