After various Ramsay Street residents started being targeted by hackers, Mackenzie Hargreaves started to become suspicious of her boyfriend Haz Devkar, eventually going through his bag and finding an external hard drive which seemed to suggested that he was the culprit. Haz then confessed to her that, before he'd moved to Erinsborough, he'd been doing a degree in IT and, along with some friends, had started a service helping people with their tech problems. This had developed into some hacking and deepfakes, and eventually the destruction of the life and business of a man named Wade Fernsby. Haz soon realised that they'd gone too far and left the group, destroying their tech gear in the process. With the hacker targeting Haz and his new life on Ramsay Street, he wanted to try and work it out for himself, convinced that it was revenge from his old friends and fearing that if the truth came out, he'd lose all of his new friends, just as his family had disowned him when they'd found out.

Unable to find anything on his own, Haz tried to get in touch with the other members of his gang from uni. One of them, nicknamed Pr0xxy, made contact and Haz asked to meet him, where he asked directly if he was the mystery hacker - warning that he would destroy Pr0xxy's life if it was him. Pr0xxy insisted that he had nothing to do with it, saying that although he'd never been happy with Haz for disappearing and destroying their business, he had moved on with his life and had no interest in revenge. He thought that the other members of their gang were also unlikely suspects, but agreed to have a look at the deepfakes and other evidence to see if he could see anything. Having had a look, Pr0xxy said that it all looked very amateurish and that there was nothing that made him think that it was any of their old mates and he then left, asking Haz not to contact him again.
