When Steph Scully witnessed her boyfriend Larry Woodhouse being kidnapped and driven off at high speed, before the car crashed and exploded in the distance, she went into a state of shock. As she ran towards the burning car wreckage, a passing motorist John Roberts, stopped and helped her, pulling her back from the flames and holding her as she collapsed in shock.
