With Roxy Willis upset that she didn't get the job of manager of the Flamingo Bar, and upset that Amy Greenwood was given the role instead, she started causing trouble to try and undermine her new boss, leading Amy to believe that she was incompetent and wasn't good enough to work behind the bar. As the war between the two women only worsened, Roxy was worried when she spotted Amy chatting to Praf, the hotel's head of HR, convinced that she was about to be sacked. Praf had told Amy that if Roxy made another mistake, then there would be grounds for dismissal, and so when Amy found money missing from the till the next day, she accused Roxy and warned her that she was going to be fired. When it turned out that new employee Ned Willis had banked the money the previous day, not realising that banking took place at the end of the week, Amy was forced to apologise to Roxy.

A couple of months later, the hotel staff were unhappy when owner Paul Robinson's granddaughter Harlow was given the newly-created role of Executive Liaison. Harlow had been unhappy working in housekeeping, but it was felt that she was completely unqualified for a more senior position and soon there were complaints, with Assistant Manager particularly annoyed that Harlow was taking over some of her tasks within the business. After a few days, Chloe decided to approach Praf for advice on how to proceed and he admitted that there had been other complaints about Harlow's appointment. With many of the staff refusing to do their jobs properly, Paul was becoming increasingly frustrated and matters only got worse when Praf approached him and explained that the only way to fix things was to stand Harlow down and to properly advertise the new role to give more qualified staff the chance to apply. When Paul refused to do this, he was stunned when the entire hotel staff went out on strike. After attempting to run the hotel with only a few staff, Paul finally realised that the only way to fix the matter was to take away Harlow's promotion.
