Guest Character Profiles > Logan Shembri Matthew Backer

Logan Shembri (aka. Dr Logan Chambers) 2024
Occupation: The Drinks Divas Assistant, Doctor

After taking her drinks truck, The Drinks Divas, on the road touring medical festivals, Melanie Pearson was preparing to head home to Erinsborough, when she met Logan Shembri. After Logan told her that she was using the wrong type of knife to cut a pineapple, then told her about his experience working on fruit farms, Melanie asked if he'd like to help her out on the truck. He accepted and they worked well together, then, after learning that he had been travelling after a traumatic event had changed his life, and that he was wondering where to go next, Melanie invited him back to Erinsborough with her. Logan accepted, but it seemed that his meeting with Melanie hadn't been quite the coincidence he'd made it out to be, as he started staring at the painting of David Tanaka - Melanie's partner in the business who'd died a few months earlier - on the side of the truck.

Back in Erinsborough, having told Logan all about her friends on Ramsay Street, Melanie was delighted to introduce Logan to Haz, who ran the local cafe, and Karl and Susan, who she lived with. Logan, however, took a particular interest in David's widower, Aaron Brennan and, after spotting him around the Lassiters complex earlier in the day, he invited him to join him and Melanie for drinks. Aaron was happy to accept, but later, after being left alone, Logan looked at a photo of him and David on his phone. The following day, Logan made sure to bump into Aaron while he was out for a run, offering to join him. After telling Karl and Susan that he was from Parramatta, Logan then mentioned to Aaron that he was from a different part of Sydney; Liverpool. His odd behaviour continued when he took Aaron's ear buds, later turning up on Ramsay Street claiming that he'd found them. He dragged Melanie across the road with him to return them and, when Aaron and Melanie went to look in on Aaron's daughter, Isla, Logan took the opportunity to have a good look at the photographs of Aaron and David in the room.

Whilst working at the drinks truck a few days later, Logan bumped into Aaron again, suggesting that he might be able to help him out with lesson on making cocktails. Aaron agreed and it appeared to be going well, until Logan put the cocktail shaker on his head like a hat, reminding Aaron of a similar thing that happened with David. Aaron threw a shocked Logan out of the house, but later caught up with him, explaining everything and apologising. When Melanie later mentioned that the Erinsborough Pavilion, where she'd parked the truck that day, was a popular location for weddings, Logan looked thoughtfully at the photos of Aaron and David's wedding on social media. Logan's behaviour only grew stranger when he seemed to recognise David's brother Leo, though Leo appeared not to know him. Melanie was also becoming concerned about her new friend as he flirted with Aaron, then denied all knowledge when neighbour Dr Remi Varga-Murphy claimed to recognise Logan, adamant that they'd spoken to each other at a medical conference a couple of years earlier in Burleigh Heads. Logan insisted that he wasn't a doctor and that Remi must be misremembering, saying that he had worked hospitality at a conference once.

As Logan and Aaron continued to spend time together, Logan met, and quickly formed a bond with, Aaron's young daughter Isla, and helped out when Aaron decided to donate David's clothes to The Sonya Rebecchi Foundation. After changing his mind, Aaron was upset to learn that somebody had already bought all of the clothes, unaware that it was actually Logan, who was busy looking through them at his place at the campsite. When Melanie then turned up to surprise him, she was alarmed when he aggressively told her to leave, not wanting her to see the clothes inside. This incident, coupled with Logan telling people he was from different parts of Sydney, and Remi's certainty that he used to be a doctor, led Melanie to steal his keys from his bag when he left it behind at Harolds. When Logan later returned home and found Melanie inside, he quickly explained that he'd bought the clothes because he was concerned that Aaron would regret selling them, then accused Melanie of loving the drama and making too much of the situation. After Logan then quit his job with her and threatened to report Melanie to the police, she decided to back off. Logan, meanwhile, returned the clothes to Aaron, explaining what he'd done and why he'd done it, which Aaron accepted and was grateful for Logan's help as he sorted through the clothes to decide what to keep.

Although Melanie then tried to mind her own business, Remi was still worried and she contacted a colleague who'd been with her at the conference in Burleigh Heads, who confirmed, after seeing a photo, that he was a doctor named Logan Chambers who had worked at a private hospital in Sydney. Remi reported this information to Melanie and together they contacted someone who had worked at that hospital, who confirmed Logan's medical past and also informed them that he had a history with David too. Fearing that Aaron might be in danger, Melanie went to him and explained that Logan and David had been at medical school together, but Logan had become obsessed with David, who had been forced to make a complaint to the university. Initially disbelieving, Aaron spoke with Leo, who remembered David's complaint about Logan though admitted that he'd never met him.

With Leo watching from nearby, Aaron then met with Logan, who explained that what Melanie found out was true and that, when he'd read about David's death on social media earlier that year, it had brought up a lot of old feelings. After reading the obituary, which mentioned that David had left behind a husband, Logan started to think about what could have been, if David hadn't been in the closet when they'd known each other. He explained that he'd taken leave from his job and gone travelling to try and get over the whole thing, but then he met Melanie and saw David's face on the side of the Drinks Diva truck. He decided that he wanted to meet David's friends and family and try to find out what his life had been like, but had realised that it was a mistake as he grew closer to Aaron. He apologised for everything and, the following day, he returned a few of David's clothing items that he'd kept for himself, realising that it wasn't a healthy thing to do, and he also apologised to Melanie, saying that he was going to move on with his life and leave them all alone.

Though they did initially stay away from each other, Aaron and Logan continued to text, with Aaron then turning up at the campsite as Logan was packing to leave. After going for a coffee together, they both found comfort in stories about David, and Aaron gave Logan a bracelet that had belonged to David. After almost being spotted by Leo, they returned to the campsite, where Aaron admitted that he didn't want Logan to leave and the pair ended up sleeping together. As they talked things through the next day and agreed not to have any regrets about what had happened, Melanie spotted them together, angrily telling Logan to stop harassing Aaron. When Aaron insisted that he wanted to be with Logan and that things had happened between them, a worried Mel spoke to Nicolette, Isla's mother, who was worried that this was the beginning of an another breakdown for Aaron, who had turned to drink and drugs in the weeks following David's death. Nicolette and Melanie then confronted Logan, pointing out that he and Aaron had nothing in common apart from a dead man and it was dangerous and unhealthy for them to be growing so close.

Though Aaron was furious as he witnessed the end of the confrontation, Logan realised that they were right and he asked Aaron if they could have a chat. Though they both agreed that their night together had been special and important to them, Logan explained that he was looking for real love, the kind that Aaron and David had shared, and it wasn't good for them to continue seeing each other and dragging each other down. Though he was upset, Aaron was then unable to convince Logan to stay with him.

A couple of weeks later, Logan contacted Aaron to tell him that an ex-partner had been diagnosed with Hepatitis B. He went on to say that, although he'd been vaccinated himself, his body hadn't produced the antibodies, so both he and Aaron were at risk and needed to get tested.
