Steve Smart 2004

Following a long-running poster war between Boyd Hoyland and Travis Dean, Boyd was horrified when things escalated out of control and the kitchen of his home was firebombed. Desperate for proof that it had been Travis behind the attack, Boyd snuck into his ute one day, just before Travis drove home to have a barbecue with some mates, including council worker Steve Smart. Once the coast was clear, Boyd managed to get out of the ute and memorise the number plate, before calling home and reporting back. As the police were on their way, Boyd managed to video Travis admitting to Steve that he’d been behind the firebomb attack, but, soon after, Travis untied his dog, Satan, who proceeded to run straight to the spot where Boyd was hiding. Boyd was forced to try and flee and ended up climbing up a tree to escape the dog, much to the amusement of Travis and his mates. As Boyd called friend and neighbour, Constable Stuart Parker, for help, he dropped his phone and, soon after, fell from the tree, leading to a scuffle with Travis. Stuart arrived moments later and broke it up, before retrieving the phone with the evidence on it.
