Guest Character Profiles > Caspar Smythe Barton Welch

Caspar Smythe 2015
Occupation: Student

After spending many months secretly in love with Daniel, the boyfriend, and later fiance, of her best friend Amber, Imogen was stunned when, not long after breaking up with Amber, Daniel suddenly kissed her. As Daniel had told her more than once in the past that he didn't have romantic feelings for her, she concluded that it was just a rebound thing and she couldn't bring herself to be his consolation prize. After attending a French film festival, Imogen did her best to forget Daniel by moving on with hipster Caspar, even though they had little in common and she hated his beard. Daniel, meanwhile, had decided that he wanted to fight for Imogen, and turned up at the uni one day, despite not being enrolled there, claiming that he wanted to sit in on a few classes. When Caspar then began a small talk in the courtyard on sustainable living, Daniel made a contribution, talking about his efforts to set up a community called Eden, both in Erinsborough and back in Queensland, and why the idea had failed. Caspar was delighted with Daniel's advice and, much to Imogen's horror, the pair hit it off and decided that they wanted to talk some more.

By the following week, Daniel was reading Anne of Green Gables, Imogen's favourite book, and trying to come up with a way to win her over. Imogen, meanwhile, had realised that she had to break up with Caspar, as they had so little in common. As she sat down to talk to him, he kissed her, witnessed by an upset Daniel, who left before he could see Imogen tell Caspar that she didn't want to continue their relationship. When Caspar then ran into Daniel at Harold's Store later, he mentioned the break-up, and the fact that it would never have worked for them as she was a Beyonce fan, giving Daniel new hope.
